Kaz Hirai Vows to Bring Profitability to Sony
Kaz Hirai, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. CEO, said Thursday that one of the companies biggest mission is to bring Sony’s gaming division back into profit. Kaz plans to do this through cut-cutting measures and the expansion of the PlayStation Network.
Sony has talked before about having the PlayStation Network become integrated with each and every one of its components. Though, how far they’ll be able to take this concept is anyone’s guess. Kaz expects to raise sales of PlayStation Network from 20 billion Yen to 50 billion Yen for the current fiscal year.
In more American terms, from 210.2 million dollars to 525.6 million dollars. Kaz sure is shooting for the moon this year, and hopefully this is indeed the Year of the PS3 and that they keep the content coming on PSN.

there having a great year so far, they just need to keep the momentum going. and hopefully drop GOW and Heavy Rain this year not early 2010.

im aware… thats why i said THIS year not early 2010. regardless of Sony’s fiscal year, most consumers don’t see 2010 as this year.
PSN can definitely become a gold mine. Throw a music store on PSN for use on PSP and PS3. Integrate the PSN movie download service on Sony Blu-ray players and TVs. Move full speed ahead on game rental for PSP and PS3. Start streaming movies and continue to support Home and PSN is easily doubling its monetary output. The games will sell themselves.
How much money are they still losing? Are they bringing it close to even yet? Come on, Sony, get your game face on!
sony will make money, just like the ps2…it cost them a lot the first few years but after that they have been rolling in the dough for years now!!!!
