While the motion control technology announced at E3 this year appeared to be in an early alpha prototype stage, Sony Computer Entertainment may be ahead of the gang.

According to president of marketing, Peter Dille:

“We’re having conversations with the third-party community. The dev kits have started to go out to the third parties as well. They’re working on the tech. They couldn’t be more excited about it.”

With this news, SCE may actually meet their Spring 2010 deadline for a product release with this new motion control technology. And with the PlayStation Eye already on the market, is already one step close to an outing of motion control.

i’m quite excited to see what becomes of this new app. i already have the Eye so i’m half way there.

  2. This is good news, but I was hoping development kits would already be in developers hands. Regardless, nice to know they are going out. I was worried when Sony didn’t mention anything especially after the competition made it clear their dev kits were already out.

Awesome. I really loved the tech demos in the e3 press conference…

    Sony Rulez… xD

  4. @Mitch

The development kits are already out to first-party developers and they started going out to the third-party devs.

Good news. I was thinking today that a game like Oblivion would be perfect with this technology!
It’s not that surprising to hear though as Microsoft said that devs had recieved kits for Natal, in their press conference, so yea…

im kinda skeptical about this cuz if i wanted to do all that i would hav a wii

  7. Moyayo says:

cant wait. by far the most impressive showing at e3.

i pretty much feel the same way… but the thing about it is… i wouldnt buy a wii and a ps3… but i would buy a pswii lol. this way we get the best of both worlds. the hardcore games and some motion games.

im already half way there cause i have a pseye… thank goodness its not as worthless as i first thought. the biggest thing about this is to me… the apps and games they are going to come out with. as long as the games take advantage and make sense with the motion then ill be happy.

Cool good to know Sony is moving fast in this area.

Well from what Microsoft showed the games that it looks like they’re going for is Futball (Soccer), Madden Football and other foot related games. Since that is what they focused on in their Tech Demo, they made a big point about seeing the sole of the avatar’s shoe. So if Sony goes for the harder core gamer they will have a louder word of mouth campaign, considering that you can get the FPS/TPS games like Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, GTA and other shooter franchises along with the hack and slash gamers… RPG’s would also work better since you have a wand with buttons so that you can have magic spells and lightning bolts, something that M$ would have to work on with either voice controls or ???

Sony has a better handle on this generation of motion control, if M$ wants to move the bar higher then they better be ready for the failure that is coming with their version. They are trying to out tech Sony but it will take longer to bring to market since there are limits to the way they are doing it… Halo can’t use it except for hand to hand combat and that would be harder to do…

who wants to move in front of a tv late at night ? lol
I’d rather shoot some hoops outside or mess with my dog
    if I want to move.
good for little kids I guess, but the nerd in me likes the tech.

    very well put, man.

I think this new tech. is AMAZING and can’t wait to get it in my hands. If other game developers aren’t ready by Spring they should at least release a set of games like Wii Sports. From what I’ve seen, these wands in combination with the PS Eye are going to absolutely demolish the Wii’s motion capabilities.

I wanted to add another thought after I saw this comment:

“im kinda skeptical about this cuz if i wanted to do all that i would hav a wii”

like I said, this new tech. is going to be much MUCH better than the Wii’s since with the PS Eye it can actually put YOU into the game. Not to mention you’ll have the PS3′s capabilities rather than the Wii’s behind every game. So you’ll have PS3 graphics and superb gameplay with a motion sensor controller and you’ll be able to see yourself in the game…still skeptical? I don’t buy the Wii because I don’t think I could stand the poor graphics and childish games, but I love the idea of motion controllers. So when added to the PS3…it will be AMAZING!

  15. koolguy16 says:

    @giese095

i think the tech is superb but im just gonna stick with my controller instead of ppl thinkin im crazy cuz of me flingin my arms around the place lol

  16. shadowjin says:

i think this is a great addition to the PS3. its far more advanced

  17. i am very interested in trying it out though i am not a huge fan of the motion controls.. but hey maybe they will be precise unlike the wii
