With Modern Warfare 2 fever becoming an epidemic, publisher Activision recently hired marketing firm TWBA/Chiat/Day to ensure that the November 10th release is the, “biggest entertainment launch of all time”.

To make that a reality, Modern Warfare 2 must overtake some pretty hefty numbers. Grand Theft Auto IV has the biggest launch day crown, selling roughly 3.6 million units, in its opening day. Then again, this shouldn’t be a problem. Recently, analysts predicted that Modern Warfare 2 will sell a whopping 11.1 million units, in just under 2 months.

But with Activision threatening to drop support for the PSP and PS3, this may be the last great game launch from the powerhouse publisher.

U know what I think Act. will rethink its statement very soon…

  2. I’m gettin this for the 360 anyway. Activision gives the DLC to MS first. So, they don’t support Sony now anyway. It sucks. I didn’t buy the DLC for the first one, cuz I thought that wasn’t right of them to do. I won’t make the same mistake again.

they’ll be hard pressed to pull this off now with a chunk of PS3 users boycotting them and this game. i was going to buy this originally, but after this latest announcement, forget it. unless Activision publicly eats their own shoe, i’m not paying anymore attention to MW2. i’d much rather get MAG anyway.

@killajd: Only after it is to late, unless they do it before MW2 is released then there will be doubts as to why they did not make the sales projection figures… The CEO maybe gone soon after…Maybe they should hire Phil Harrison…

Umm I don’t know what all of the craze is about. What’s so special about this game and why is it receiving so much hype? Will they bring anything new to the table? It looks like a polished up CoD4.

    @ Brent

i agree, the first one had a great story line, it kept hooked (keep in mind im not an FPS fan) great visuals and modern instead rehashed WW2. the problem, was a short single story mode. Thats pretty much it. the chase scene at the end was incredible. i guess you could say it was epic. honestly, it looks the same with a longer single player mode and made up modern weapons.

  7. I agree with Brent… COD6 is going to be an ordinary FPS like all of its counterparts whilst the big sony exclusives liie MAG are going to deliver 256 massive battles!! Now seriously do you want simple FPS with a bunch of lag or real pure war FPS that has tons of customizationn and a new revolution?? seriously MAG PWNS COD any day

  8. nikrel says:

Good luck Activision, I will not be buying MW2.

i dont see what is so good about this game too. I thought the game play didnt look that good, it didnt look like cod. but the single player always suck, online is all that matters. But i dont know if they will bring anything new, (and Activision is stupid for thinking they can tell sony how to sell their product.)

from this moment on Activision is officially called Natziviion or ActNatzi.

ActiNatzi’s good but ActNatzi has a ring.

  11. sobrguy says:

i think “Craptivision” sounds the best. but, you know. that’s just me.

  12. DGR8Mc187 says:

Suits me fine give us MW2 and then Sony can buy Infinty Ward and make them an exclusive dev, screw Craptivision
