i could see this happening and being a cheaper price point.. so you could keep the current PS3 model at 400 and have this one at 250-300 price range

i remember reading about that along time ago. This feud goes back before M$ was even competition. The motion control was developed way before E3, i read and saw a video presentation with the same guys demonstrating it at E3. i think you and i need to form an Ars Tec alliance battle. lol.

The PS2 EyeToy wasn’t really body motion control. It just noticed color change and it worked that way. This is new technology coming out that actually sees your body.

Well when you look back at history of Sony, they generally announce major changes in the Playstation Universe on Home Turf. What is so different now… E-3 is not the main event for Sony, TGS is, it is on home turf and against the other major console vendor of the world Nintendo. Anybody who thinks that M$ is the console that Sony is competing against it is not. There is more to the console wars since Sony was dissed by Nintendo when they dropped Sony for the development of a cd drive for the Nintendo Game Console at the time of the PS one. That feud and dishonor is still there in the management style at the top of Sony’s Management team. Microsoft is barely on the radar. The motion controller was in the works before this years E-3. I would not be surprised that the motion controller was to be a part of the PS3 at launch but it just did not meet standards???? Since there are PS2 EyeToy games that show that body motion control was already done and it just did not work in the gaming world.

The PS3 slim is a new piece of hardware and I will bet that it will have a lower price tag. And that is why it was and will not be announced since from a marketing/sales aspect they have to many units in the warehouses to drop the price because these may be older units manufactured at a higher price point…

I still think that this is a rumor. The only reason I’d want a slim PS3 is if I were to get Head Play and play PS3 portably.

I think this is why Sony has not cut the price of the current PS3, this one will be cheaper on it’s own due to it being cheaper to produce. That is just my 2 cents tho.
