Final Fantasy VII Sales Take to the Sky

Square Enix, the makers of Final Fantasy VII, the phenomenal PS1 classic that was re-released on the PSN store, have announced some jaw-dropping statistics.
Within just two weeks of availability on the PlayStation Store, PS3 owners have downloaded Final Fantasy VII over 100,000 times. This highly-demanded classic seems to be paying off for Square Enix. This easily places FFVII as the highest selling PS1 classic on the PSN store to date. What is interesting to note is this was just a re-release, not a full-blown remake.
Had Square Enix done a remake of FF7, just imagine how big the sales would have been for that. But still the question begs. Have you bought Final Fantasy VII yet?

great….now that devs see how well this game sold, they will bring over more PS1 games

The nice PS One games keep coming, and with this Square should remake the game faster or release it sooner now XD

Of course l bought it. l was constantly checking the store to see if they had put it up the day they announced it would be on there.

I didn’t buy it, I already have a physical copy that I bought for the same amount years ago. Plus it’s not a game I liked enough to actually buy multiple versions of it.

do you think this was also a test for them? Fishing for info on if there’s still interest in the game for a remake, or do you think they’re not that blind?

No, I didn’t get it yet. I was waiting for Metal Gear Solid first. Now that I have that, I’ll get around to downloading FFVII, even though I still have the discs.

I have the Pc version on disc, so I am not looking at this version. Although I think it is a cool thing to do of Sony, the classics will probably be lost on me in general.

I bought it and I am extremely addicted to it. Already have 18 hours of gameplay into it when I should only have about 6 : )

I didn’t buy it, but I don’t care for turn based games. Nice to see the big numbers though.

Impressive numbers looks like we’ll see more PS1 games from Squarenix soon
