PS3 Firmware 2.80 Now Live

Just a heads up it’s that time again guys and girls. Go to the system update and update your PS3’s to version 2.80. According to the official blog:

Yeah I update it… didn’t found anything yet. Maybe is just that or preparing something, who knows.

it has to be prepping for something….normally if its only for playback it would only be a +.01 update, not a +.1 update. Trophies seem to go a tad bit faster.

@Trexman: And yet you probably complain when games freezes on you. I think it’s great that Sony improves stability, and who knows, maybe it’s prepping for something like Matthew Whitney said.

@Matthew Whitney: Maybe they want to get to 3.0 fast since they have something big ready for us. Would be weird if they bumbed from 2.7x to 3.0. And yeah, I’m just dreaming:p

I am new to this, so no frustrations about little updates yet, but it is strange that they give absolutely no (real) explanation about what this patch holds. But all in all, as I am using their network for free, I like it!

Playback improvement! WOWY WOW! Man Sony sure does know how to give use what we want, cause i mean just the other day I said, man I wish the playback in the PS3 would be improved! And boom! Sony delivers! Take the xbots! when was the last time you got your playback improved!

The guy who said this update was coming (about a week ago), said that the PS3 Slim was real (which Anthony has been saying for sometime now), and that the firmware 3.0 will include voice chat across all games.

Strange, I wasn’t notifoed with the usual “there is a system update available” pop up. I even was able to go into the PSN Store and play Red Faction. Previously it would have notified when I turn on my PS3. It also made me update in the past if I went into the PSN Store or playing a game. Anyone else notice that?

@Mitch – The exact reason I came on here. I noticed the same thing. Normally I am forced to do the update; this afternoon – nothing. Should I be interested? I have no idea.
