Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear series, says he already has three ideas for Metal Gear Solid 5.

“I have three concepts for MGS5 already. What would be ideal for me with MGS5, though, is that we don’t do those. If the team picks one of those concepts, I have to get involved again, which I don’t want to do.”

He goes on to say this:

“There are already so many good ideas from the staff, so if we select one of those, that would be really good. At that point I could really rely on them and take the step back to be the producer, which is the ideal situation, I think.”

Kojima will be working on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker as game designer, writer, producer, and director. While for Metal Gear Solid: Rising, he’ll be taking a much smaller role as producer only. Although this seems to be the end of Hideo Kojima working on the Metal Gear franchise, he still continues to work on new ideas.

“Well, I want to create something new, and it’s difficult to explain since no one’s seen it before. I don’t know if it would sell very well. I’ve been warming this up for a long time, and I keep thinking that I’ll try this idea. But ideas always change, so I really don’t know what the final outcome will be.”

  1. Lol Kojima-san you are the best. If the team picks one of his ideal concepts he will step in, that is so awesome. God Kojima never stop making good games even if this new idea of yours is a flop I’ll still buy it. : ) ——–MAYBE

but please stay away from MGS4 crap , that was the worst game I’ve played in the franchise , the graphics are STUNNING though .

  3. I 2nd that WHAT…I didnt even finish MGS 4 and it was AMAZING…

?….. skip the cut scenes if you hate the story telling part of it.

I don’t think this is the end of Kojima being heavily involved in the MGS franchise, he obviously still wants to be a part of it since he’s dedicated himself to the new PSP game, he just might not want to be involved in the multi-platform version. I’m afraid that they might have to “dumb down” the game in order to appeal to XBox 360 users. I’m not saying 360 users are dumb, but I feel the vast majority of them are more casual gamers and they just want a lot of explosions and heavy action…which is not true to MGS.

it makes him sound really lazy :D
but i can see what he means as he wants to step back from the franchise and if the team picks one of these concepts then he feels he has to do everything to make sure its implemented correctly
sorry kojima but i want one of these concepts to be chosen :D

  7. The biggest suggestion i could give to him is to explore the gameplay potential of Acts 1 and 2 in MGS4. Being able to dynamically win/lose allies was a huge concept that really needs further exploration. It should even be big enough to affect the overall storyline.
