Following the article on how Serious Sam HD may make an appearance on PlayStation Network, LucasArts has suggested that Monkey Island may make an appearance as well.
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, is currently set to release 2009, with it to launch on Xbox Live Arcade and PC. When asked why LucasArts chose Xbox Live Arcade as the launch platform, and not WiiWare or PSN, Craig Derrick (producer of the remake) replied:
“Well, we never said we wouldn’t be on Wiiware or PSN now did we? We may have another platform announcement to make very, very soon.”
Derrick went onto explain that the remake of The Secret of Monkey Island, is an “experiment to see what interest there is for these types of games and if people are interested in playing them on a console”. This means if we see it do well, gamers may see Monkey Island 2 done the same way.

I hope so. However, what with this being a mouse based game, I really do think this sort of game would lend itself well to the DS.
Either way, I’m glad its getting a re-release! Was a gem of a game during my childhood.

Hell Yes! It would be a travesty if they didn’t release this for PSN.I’ve seen the video of the remake at Justin.tv and it looks really good. You can switch between the classic version and the newer one during gameplay at any time! Really cool.I hope it comes out soon on PSN.

I couldn’t agree more with nvmisfit. It would be an absolute travesty. I miss the old games like Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and Sam and Max. I first played The Secret of Monkey Island on SegaCD. It was slightly revamped for that platform as well (not the graphics, just the gameplay). It would be fantastic if they released this on the PSN. I would also really love to see the Secret of Monkey Island 2. Really you have to just ask yourself only one question, do you fight like a dairy farmer or appropriately like a cow?

Old school PC games are great. I’d like to see more of them (with trophies added!).

I’d love to. I’d also love to see Indy and the FoA and Broken Sword, not point and click but should have a gameplay more like Broken Sword 3 or The Da Vinci Code
