God Eater Taking Cues from Monster Hunter Series

It looks like Capcom’s unprecedented success with the Monster Hunter series has raised more than a few eyebrows amongst Japanese game developers. Namco Bandai is proud to announce their new series God Eater, which takes some subtle cues from Capcom’s lucrative RPGs.

God Eater takes place in the future, where divine creatures known as Aragami have been attacking the planet and must be destroyed by the God Eaters. The game has both offline and online modes, and your teams consist of four characters who use weapons called (wait for it) “deus ex machina.” Not original by any stretch of the imagination, but we’ll take what we can get. These weapons literally suck the life essence out of the Aragami and make it their own. This allows the characters to power up their weapons, which can convert between gun, blade, and ‘predator form’.

According to Namco Bandai, God Eater is paced a lot faster than Monster Hunter, and we’d love to see more of this game in action. After all, competition is always great to have. The game does have very impressive art direction, and we’ve got some scans included for the game. Check them out below, and let us know what you think!

    I think its funny that both games are like “Noun Verb”. Soon enough we’ll see Toilet Cleaner, Mission Planner, and maybe even Price Reducer…well…at least not from Capcom :P

    @Bacon,
    VanillaGorilla still has the top spot as Best Username, but you’re definitely a close 2nd. Price Reducer would be a wackyass game though. What would the setting be? Walmart?

    Thanks John, its also my psn name for anyone who couldn’t guess :P feel free to hit me up w/ a friends request

    and I’d say that it would be set at Walmart at first..but then you’d venture to places such as Menards or Gamestop where you “save money” and ultimately end up at Jewel…where they’re cutting prices of thousands of items every day!

    LMAO!! I can see Gamestop as a pretty hard level.

    I really like the art direction and faster than Monster Hunter Sounds fun as long as that dosn’t translate to a shorter game overall.
