While at E3, we were able to see several games coming from publisher PlayLogic, and Fairytale Fights was just one of them. Now that the embargo has lifted on Fairytale Fights, it’s time for us to show our preview of this wild new game.
The game itself fits into the hack-and-slash category. There are a series of button combos that can be used to pull off various moves to defeat the onscreen enemies. There are up to four characters the player can choose in order to progress through the story. Along with the characters, there are over 100 weapons at the player’s disposal. The weapons use a “Dynamic Slicing” technology known as “Salami Violence”. This allows the player to have full control over where the character slices their victims.

Co-Op is another big feature in the title. It features both local and online multiplayer, with up to four players allowed to participate. Co-op can be selected in both the battle arenas and the story mode. The concept of the game is based on the fairly tales that many people became familiar with as children, but with a much more mature twist.
Besides the “Dynamic Slicing” feature, the other big draw to this title is undoubtedly be the liquid system used within the game. Liquids behave as they should and they will combine with one another. Blood is one of the main liquids in the title that the gamer will see actually spatter all over the ground, to the point where the player can even slide around on it. The amount of blood spilled also leads to an evaluation grade at the end of each level. And as we found out, levels can essentially become completely covered with blood as the player progresses through them.

There is also a special move that can be performed by your character. This is known as the glory bar, and once it is full your character can unleash a very powerful attack. All of the attacks within the game are stick based, and the fighting mechanics feature blocking, throwing weapons, and using the scenery to the player’s advantage. The character is only allowed to carry two weapons at any given time.
The only two characters that have been revealed so far are Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White. There are still two more characters that have yet to be revealed. When asked about the possibility of downloadable content for the title, PlayLogic said it is a definite possibilty and that it will be available soon after release. The title is slated for release during Holiday of 2009.

Included below are some pictures of Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White, along with the official box art for the title as well.
