As Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time nears its fall release date, Sony Computer Entertainment America as went ahead and revealed the game’s pre-order incentives across four retailers, Gamestop, Amazon.com, Best Buy, and Game Crazy. However, as the information let out, fans became defensive and none other than James Stevenson gave us some clarification on the matter.

As shown in the image above, the different pre-order “packages” typically involve giving the player a pregame advantage with the return of an Insomniac Museum feature in the Discovery Package, cheats in the Power and Bolt Package, and PlayStation Home and in-game skins in the Space Package.
Discovery Package – Explore the Insomniac Moon, a special level that resembles the layout of the Insomniac Games’ offices! Scattered through this museum-like level, you will discover a moon’s worth of extra content that didn’t quite make it into the game.
Power Package –The Power package includes an exclusive weapon skin for one of Ratchet’s weapons. You will also start the game with extra hit points, and Ratchet’s brand new Cryo Mine Glove, a weapon that freezes enemies! (This pre-order program goes into effect over the next few weeks.)
Bolt Package – The thrifty gamer will find lots to love in this exclusive Bolt Package! Start the game with two of Ratchet’s most bolt-centric power-ups — the Bolt Magnetizer and Box Basher, and you will discover your galactic bank account has already loaded with 5,000 bolts when you start the game.
Space Package – The Space Package offers an exclusive hotrod skin for Ratchet’s ship, the Aphelion. You also will start with 5,000 bolts as well as an exclusive Ratchet & Clank PlayStation Home Avatar Skin!
As soon as the retailer exclusivity clause hit, fans and critics alike were quick to bash Insomniac Games about the practice. However, James Stevenson reminded the community that most of these incentives “will be available through the course of the game as you play”. It looks like the only thing that will truly be a pre-order exclusive is the Insomniac Moon since it is actually meant to be downloaded via voucher.
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time will hit store shelves this Fall. Stay tuned on PlayStation LifeStyle for all the latest news on each pre-order and which retailers they will be available at.

What really sucks is that the Moon is the only one I want and that is through Gamestop (the one retailer I will not support no matter how enticing the crap is).

@ Robotron
I’m actually glad Gamestop is doing that one because they’re the easiest retailer for me to reach (besides Wal-Mart, Target, and K-Mart) because it’s on this side of town whereas there’s no Game Crazy and Best Buy is on the other side of town.

@ Kishen Patel – but online shopping makes all of them easy to reach…anyway, the whole Insomniac Moon thing doesn’t interest me too much. If content didn’t make it into the game it was for a reason, the same reason that scenes get cut from movies. I never watch the cut scenes in DVD special features either.

I don’t like the idea of pre-order bonuses. I can’t always get a game when it comes out and then I miss out on goodies (Infamous) that I think would be cool to get.
