These days movie adaptations of video game franchises have become the norm. Mostly using action heavy, story driven, multi-sequel franchises.
Universal has won the rights to a game, that doesn’t seem to mesh well with the movie world. That’s mostly because that game is an old school arcade classic with no premise. So other than the nostalgia factor, what will Asteroids the movie offer?
Since the movie is in such an early stage of development we wont have any answers for some time. Until then, what do you think Universal can do with an Asteroids movie?

All arcade asteroid machines were placed on earth by aliens in order to test for the best of asteroid killers Earth has to offer……..
Wait damnit this isn’t The Last Starfighter.

I always say Hollywood can’t sink any lower, and they always prove me wrong. I suppose they could make a movie about an asteroid about to hit the Earth – that would be pretty original [/sarcasm]

I’m surprised George Lucas didn’t pick up on this…he probably would have incorporated it into Episode 7- Return of the Sold Out Sequels
