In recent news, many thought that the 480Mhz speed for the PSPgo was for the CPU. Thus, it was thought that the PSPgo may go almost as fast as the new iPhone 3GS. Engadget Japan recently contacted Sony Computer Entertainment, and got a different answer.
When contacted, Sony Computer Entertainment confirmed that the Maximum clock frequency is for the USB device, and not for the CPU. It’s unfortunate for gamers who were hoping for a faster PSP, as we can assume it will clock in at 333mhz (the same as the PSP 3000).

If it was the USB speed, shouldn’t it have been 480 mbps?
that sucks.
Ah don’t worry PR is apt to change when the product fully releases and a FW update is initiated during its lifetime…
Since this is being under-clocked by the FW then it can be changed as the PSP 3000 had been in relation to the Phat version. So just sit back and enjoy the hardware when it is in your phat little hands…
Whoopsie.
I think that they should reconsider the price of PSP Go. I kinda wanted to get one ’cause it looks sweet. But just the thought of $250 is just bad. The only thing you’ll get more from PSP 3000 is 18gb and smaller size. Especially if they somehow reduced the price of the PS3 by $300 this August.
Do the math.
$300 PS3 vs. $250 psp?? What’ll people get??
