How Modern Warfare Got Its Call of Duty Back
Today, Activision released the cover for their highly anticipated Modern Warfare 2, and confusion soon spread like wildfire. A few weeks ago, Activision removed the “Call of Duty” moniker from Modern Warfare 2, in an effort to separate itself from previous iterations, mainly those that Treyarch developed. To quell the mass confusion, an Activision spokesperson spoke today with Kotaku, and gave an explanation why Activision decided to put “Call of Duty” on the Modern Warfare 2 cover.
“Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 is the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. We have focused our attention on Modern Warfare in order to most effectively communicate the fact that this is the first true sequel in the Call of Duty series.
“Infinity Ward, the original creators of the Call of Duty franchise, has said from the beginning Modern Warfare 2 resides in the Call of Duty universe. This is reflected in the title’s package.”

By saying COD in the cover, everyone buys it, even if the game sucks (which i dont think it will)
i guess this makes sense. i didnt really think the sales numbers would be any different if it didnt say call of duty but i like that they are making a point that the game takes place in the call of duty universe.
actually i take that back… if the game is great like cod4 mw than i dont think the sales number would differ but if they game sucks than i definitely believe the call of duty is going to help.
i guess i just think that if you know about modern warfare and world at war then you are going to know about modern warfare 2 wether it says cod or not. but im sure that doesnt always stay true

This game is so over hyped, I am sick of hearing about it. The single player all ready looks bad, all that matters is online. I am looking forward to bad company 2 more then this. At least they are not going around every day talking about how awesome their game is going to be, they are working on making a great game and not caring about telling us how they are awesome
Makes total sense to have COD affiliation especially with same characters. Looking forward to this game more than my summer holiday!
