On tonight’s episode of GameTrailers TV, Evan Wells and his team, Naughty Dog, revealed a surprisingly awesome fact about Uncharted 2’s multiplayer mode.
Justin Richmond, the multiplayer lead, told GameTrailers that he and his team could update Uncharted 2’s multiplayer mode “without patching”. He even went so far as to say that Naughty Dog could update playlists and even make changes to the levels without PS3 owners worrying about downloading the newest patch. He did note, however, that Naughty Dog would patch the game if it was absolutely necessary.

I watched that and was amazed that they declared that they could patch the game on the fly if needed to. That must have been why there was only one patch released and that was to remove the system reset at the end of the beta session when you quit the game.

I think this is awesome, and regardless of the people who say that Steam or Bungie have been doing this for years, it doesn’t matter. This is awesome!
