With already 2K Marin, 2K Australia and Digital Extremes working on Bioshock 2, another development team has been announced.

Most known for their work on Dark Messiah, Arkane Studios is joining the all-star cast working on this year’s highly anticipated title.

“In the past we’ve been working closely with 2K Australia for our tech needs and Digital Extremes for our robust multiplayer experience. Today I’m proud to say that we’ve added another important developer to the mix,” 2K Marin producer, Alyssa Finely said.

“Under the direction and leadership of 2K Marin, Arkane is assisting in the creation of levels that embody the aesthetic and gameplay ideals that make BioShock such a unique and exciting experience.”

Bioshock 2 is set to release for the PS3 November 3rd.

  1. nice, the more the merrier

  2. doesn’t it seem a little too late to be adding another developer so late when the suppose release date is only 4 months away. I would think they would be almost be done with the game and just polishing it but adding a new developer for the “creation of levels that embody the aesthetic and gameplay ideals” sounds like they havent even made half of the game yet. But idk maybe they are adding them to make the process faster, you know more people faster the faster it gets done.

  3. this could be bad. if u get different devs working on different parts of the game, you could end up with a broken story or gaming hitches.

PLease take your time and make Bioshock 2 the best it can be.

  7. Yeah, it sounds like they were brought in to just help with the workload, like an outside contractor. It sounds really fishy to me too, but goes to show just how many people it really takes to make a game on two platforms rather than just one.

I would have used the word additional, not new, to describe the situation.
