Out of the Bag: GameTrailers Employee Confirms PS3 Slim

It’s what PlayStation LifeStyle has been saying for a while now: the PS3 Slim is real. And today, the truth seems to be coming out of the bag, as a GameTrailers employee has confirmed the new hardware redesign of the PS3.
The GameTrailers forums were ablaze when supposed footage of the PS3 Slim surfaced online. However, most users called out the footage, saying it was “fake”, and “a knock off”. But “Vespene”, a staff member of GameTrailers, came out on the forums and confirmed it’s existence, posting a very simple message.
“Sony can’t keep leaks.

If the “PS3 Slim” actually looks like that, then I’d rather go for the original based on the appearance.
Why are the surroundings in these pics always so…Hidden?
And why do they never have multiple pics?
And why does the PS3 text look weird? And the button things look way stupid… There are no markings at all, they’re just there.
And where the heck is the bottom? Is it just angled that well?(which is a high possibility)
I hope this is fake for the fact, it’s way ugly… And I kind of find it weird Sony would slim down the PS3 so soon, only reason I can find as to why is manufacturing cost.
Point is, the current design is nice and I love it.
IF this is true, why not just Slim it down and make it look more like the current one but with some changes? WE SHALL SEE!
The button things look stupid because they have taken out the touch buttons we are familiar and replaced them with regular buttons that you actually push in. With that said, man does that thing look hideous. It looks, I don’t know….cheap I guess. It looks like a counterfeit PS3.
I guarantee this will coincide with a price drop.
Just a gut feeling.
I’m still trying extremely hard to figure out why so many people say it’s so ugly. It has almost the exact same frame as the current PS3, just smaller and what looks like the same materials as the PS2. People just love to complain in this world, and it’s pathetic.
I think the images we’ve seen so far for the PS3 slim are ugly. I don’t see what the big deal is about a slimmer console anyway…do you really not have room for a full sized one? I would be worried about over-heating and durability. I love my PS3 just the way it is, it doesn’t need to be smaller or lower priced. I do want the supposed firmware upgrade that will give us PS2 backwards compatibility though, then my PS3 will be perfect.
the sheer ugliness of it reminds me of the boomerang controller sony came out wit at first, sony just sucks when it comes to ps3 design
Aside from the ugly buttom, I actually think it looks cool.
I was thinking about buying a second PS3 and the PS3 Slim might be it!
to the guy who said its fake because of the font, remember sony changed the font on the first slim PS.

It’s not really a complaint, why make something that looks awesome look bad?(which is an opinion, as is saying it looks nice)
I just think most if not all prefer the sleekness of the current PS3′s compared to this.
And we all love the PS2, but no one ever said they loved the material it was made out of XD
If you don’t think it’s ugly that is fine, we’re all entitled to our own opinion…But in the end you’re complaining about a complaint XD (no need to get mad, it’s just ironic is all)
I’ve said though, if this PS3 doesn’t get as hot(which newer models as is, don’t get very hot), or something nice I’m up for buying it…But if it’s just smaller, and I don’t like the look soo much why bother y’know? Unless it’s way way cheaper XDD
Will Sony stop making the regular sized PS3′s once they start making the Slims? When I took apart my PS3, I noticed the casing was made by:
“Kunshan Eson Precision Engineering Co.,Ltd”.

we all saw this coming! and you guys didnt see it coming really. Well you knew it was real but you thought it would be released at E3. I sent you emails telling you all about how it was going to be released at TGS how it was real and all this stuff but you thought i was way off and made it sound like i was an idiot for thinking it would be coming out before christmas. Now that you guys were wrong you are trying to make it look like you knew this was coming all along. i love your site and all the stuff you guys post, but you guys were stupid with this. and the line It’s what PlayStation LifeStyle has been saying for a while now: is really cocky and you didnt. This is the only thing you guys have done that i have not liked, other then this keep up the great work

I will wait until an “Official” Sony source comments on the Slim version these photos are way to grainy/shaded to see anything and the Philippine video said a price of 410 usd. That does not sound like a price drop to me… And if the price does drop to $299 that is then the reason that Sony has not commented on pricing so far. If the price does not drop will you buy one???

Still think it’s fake. Sorry, but how does an underground philipino market get this before anywhere else – before even Sony announce it?
And, I don’t think Sony would make it look that… tacky! Look at that eject button for crying out loud!
The slim might be real – as in, it will come around – but this is not it. If it is, then Sony have not just shot themselves in the foot, but also in the entire design depertment.
If anyone can provide the Philippines shop where the PS3 slim was found, I’ll gladly report it to the whole battalion of PS3 Filipino owners willing to look for the system and buy/try it.

i don’t think your complaining, your correct.. the “slim” looks like shit. The material used makes it look fake and the letters look etched on also the 3 in the PS3 logo has no reflection unlike the PS..(keep in mind theres a bright light next to it).

because it looks formless………like a small folder with no shape what so ever.. the “fat” PS3 has a blade like design with silver trimmings making it stand out. I still think its fake because no one ever takes a solid picture with a good high quality video camera without it bouncing around. Its an opinion dude but it looks very simple and basic looking. The PS2 slim looks identical as the original PS2 just smaller. Until Sony officially says its real i wont believe it. what adds to the “look” of the slim is the shitty quality pictures and videos.
Hmm, as long as my “big” ps3 continues working, Im not even curious about the slim version, wether it is real or not. Im not expecting any hardware advances except the space it might take.
i hope EVERYTHING is fake, and i mean EVERYTHING shown about it, cause it shouldnt only be slimmer, should also be smaller

We aren’t trying to be cocky, because it’s basically the truth that we were the first to break the news of a PS3 Slim. It’s become a huge deal now, and I don’t people to forget that it was us.

Look into the forums of this site and you will find a guide to fixxing ylods. It works i know from experience. search for ylod or gilksy, he is the one who made the guide
Slimmer model with less production cost = less cost. Or rather lower cost of the current model and charge 4 hundred for the new slim and make up there loss further down the line on PS3 slims after they grow there still base with saling off all remaining fat models. When the user base spikes gamedevs will make loads of games AAA and PSN based put the system in greater demand there after and the Wii would be the only competition.

One other thing I noticed about this Slim PS3 is, there’s never anything shown about the ports in the back, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen any USB ports period… Not that you could, camera is shotty in the video and the pics are all of this top-down view only and nothing more. There is always the chance this is real, but I still think/hope it isn’t.
Cool if it’s true, but I just don’t understand what the big deal is about “a Game Trailers employee” talking about it. Are they a subsidiary of Sony or something?

It just gives a lot more truth to the statement that the PS3 Slim is indeed real.
