Any hope of Heavy Rain squeezing in by the end of the year is all but gone now. Co-CEO of Quantic Dream Guillaume de Fondaumiere, the developers behind Heavy Rain, indicated that his studio thought it was best if they delayed the game t0 2010, and they firmly “believe this is the right time”.
“Purely from my perspective, most publishers today realise that it’s not ideal to release a new IP or a new genre just before Christmas.
It’s a very crowded place to be, and certain games need more space to live their life. Everybody at [work] on the project, both at Quantic and Sony, believe this is the right time.”
Fondaumiere did not give any word as to when the game might ship in 2010. And as you may remember, Killzone 2 was pushed back several months in order avoid a crowded holiday season. Is this the right move on Quantic Dream’s part? Post your thoughts and feelings in the comment section below.

I don’t care when they release it as long as they do. I would wait 5 more years just for them to put every ounce of effort into this game and make it into the masterpiece that it has the potential to be. There will be more than enough games coming out this fall and holiday season to keep me busy…Modern Warfare 2 anyone? or how about Assassin’s Creed 2?

I think its a good idea. I think most games should be more spread out during the year anyway. I don’t like the idea of Demon’s Soul’s(eventhough its not published by Sony), Uncharted 2, MAG, and Ratchet all coming out in a 2 month span.

Very good move. I would like this to sell well, and with all the titles coming out by year’s end, Heavy Rain probably couldn’t stand a chance.

Very very smart move. I still cant wait to play it, but i will have plenty of other games to play like Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2, Assassins Creed 2, and Demons Souls. My point is that this is a very good choice to ensure sales.
