It was only a week ago when both GameFly and Gamestop’s websites had Zipper Interactive’s PS3 title MAG, a.k.a. Massive Action Game, listed for a November 24th release this year. And it made perfect sense, since Sony had previously announced the title was coming in the Fall of 2009. However, it looks like they may be polishing up the title a little more than expected.

If you’ve been shopping online lately, you may seen that the release of MAG (Massive Action Game) has changed to January 2010. This tentative change may be pushed back even further, depending on the types of games Sony has lined up for early 2010, such as God of War 3.

Dang. Looks like we will have Uncharted 2 and Ratchet and Clank to go on this year. MAG, WKC, GoW3, and Heavy Rain are all 2010.

People said 2009 was a great year for games….Just think of 2010!

As long as they don’t release it with bugs, I’m all for pushing a game back, if it’s not fully ready. Take your time Zipper. Too many games are coming out, when they still have work to do on them. Then we have to wait for an update, when it should’ve been done before the release of the game.

  3. shadowjin Says:

there goes another game to the list…

    @Boricuastorm:

I will come out with “bugs”, no software is pristine like you may want it. There will be issues that will have to be dealt with when they release it. It is just the nature of the beast that is computer software development, whether it is games, OS’s or networking. If it is created by Man then it will have some inherent flaws because were inherently not as smart as we tell ourselves we are…

that’s good news to me since the beta is coming out this will give it plenty of time to fix all the bugs in the game. Good job with this Zipper you never seem to fail

Update: A Sony Computer Entertainment spokesperson said “We haven’t made any announcements in regards to the launch date, the retailers are just speculating.”

This is why I think they shouldn’t announce any release dates for games until they are 100% sure of when it will hit store shelves. I’m glad I haven’t pre-ordered the game yet because I would be upset if I had and suddenly had to wait another 2-6 months. They would save a lot of whining and complaining if they just never told us any “tentative” release dates.

    @ giese095

i agree.. its annoying and frustrating because the media hypes the games up and release information almost on a daily basis and builds up excitement to have it crumble.

  9. acm7vu Says:

More time spent = more quality.

  10. freshboy184 Says:

cool if they make the beta they have more time to fix all the shit keep working and the game is going to be cracy

  11. Voyou San Says:

if they decide they need more time to polish the game, i am all for that. I mean they are trying to fit 256 players online together.

  12. dbigfeet Says:

    cool, work the kinks out.

  13. Jeneric Says:

i still think this game is going to be a straight lag fest. killzone 2 still is

  14. SolidCake_ Says:

I hope they’re adding interesting/clever content, 256 players are cool and all, but I won’t buy it just because of that.

  15. mcx Says:

Would rather them work everything out before it comes out.

  16. Bacon4thetakin Says:

What they should really do is go the Slant 6 route and release it now

  17. Mitch Cumstein Says:

Damn, Sony’s Fall/Holiday lineup has been falling apart over the last couple of months. That said, MAG is going to struggle enough as it is(online only mp/new ip), putting it up against Modern Warfare 2 would have been suicide. It stands to do better with with a strategic launch date in 2010, but I really doubt this game is going to have much success.

Unfortunately, this game doesn’t market well, because it looks rather drab. Combine that with Sony’s historically poor advertising and you have a recipe for disaster.

I’m not a MAG hater. I would, and hope I’m wrong, but it’s just my opinion so take it lightly. Here’s to me be dreadfully wrong.
