As of now, gamers have a real choke hold on the analyst Michael Pachter, constantly berating him for statistical blunders and predictions that only occasionally ring true. But a new tidbit he’s recently discovered may quell some of that hate.
Pachter has claimed that Take-Two management had let slip to him that the next GTA has been in development for the past 12 months. According to Pachter, the game will use the same engine as the latest console entry, Grand Theft Auto 4. He also said that Take-Two believes the game will sell in the 15-18 million region.
Moving onto release, Pachter did not have an exact date, but did say the title is expected before fiscal 2011. He also said it may not release before October 2010.
In a research note issued today, Michael Pachter had this to say:
“When we do the simple math, we conclude that the next installment is likely to be completed by some time in 2010, although given the frequency of game delays, it is not clear that it will necessarily come before October 31, 2010. However, it is clear to us that the next version of GTA will arrive before the end of FY:11.”

Maybe I’m an unusually patient person or something, but the 6 to 9 (or even 12) months notice the developers give us before the release of a new game is plenty for me. And you know it’s actually true then as well.

I’m actually starting to wonder if this guy Pachyer even really works for a firm or if he’s guilty of identity theft.
