When we announced that Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition was available for pre-order, we knew people would be interested. But because of the astronomical $149.99 price, we weren’t expecting it to be a major seller. However the highest-priced edition of Modern Warfare 2 is topping the list of Amazon.com’s Bestsellers.
Topping Amazon.com’s bestsellers list is the Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition. The PS3 version isn’t far off in 5th place.
This is surprising considering most gamers these days are finding themselves stretching their dollar as far as it can go. It looks like price isn’t a concern when it comes to owning such a rare collector’s item.
The Prestige Edition has already sold out in the UK at retailer HMV, so it’s only time, especially if it’s selling so well, that pre-orders are going to sell out at Amazon. To ensure you get your copy of this extremely limited edition of the highly anticipated Modern Warfare 2, we suggest you pre-order now.

This is absolute stupidity. I didn’t that many people would go for this with that high of a price. What do you get for that amount of money?? A ridiculously pointless artbook, a special case for the game that means nothing, and a pair of night vision goggles that you will use once and then leave to sit on a shelf collecting dust. What do any of these add to the overall experience of the game?? Nothing…I’m going to laugh if this game turns out to be horrible, I don’t want it to be, but I would still laugh after all these people wasted so much money. I have never and probably will never buy a special edition of a game that costs more than the regular edition. By paying for stuff like this you are encouraging publishers to continue to provide us with extra stuff and having to pay for it! You should be encouraging publishers to include free items with the game!! For instance if you pre-order Modern Warfare 2 you should get a voucher to download the original Call of Duty, not having to pay an extra $20 to get it with a special edition of the game.
This is crazy, people are saying all the time that the PS3 is overpriced but yet they go out and spend 150.00 on a game. You can get 3 games for that price. This is also the same company that said sony needed to lower their price. I guess so if they want you to shell out money like this for there products. I know that there is a regular edition for they one that are going to use that comment against what I said.
I agree with the above comments.
Really what is the point in having Night Vision goggles ?
I’ve pre-ordered the “Hardened” Edition but only because it includes Call Of Duty Download which I’ve never played and its only £65
But the “Prestige” edition is ridiculous.
Wow, that’s amazing, whether you approve or disapprove of the NVG, that is impressive how fast that jumped up.
I won’t disagree that the Night Vision Goggles sound pretty cool, but I also know that I would take them out of the package, use them the first night for about 10 minutes and then put them somewhere and forget about them. I just can’t believe there are enough people who are willing to spend an extra $90 on a game to get these goggles and do the exact same thing as I would with them. I have a feeling a lot of the customers are either spoiled little brats with a trust fund who don’t know what else to do with their money, or they are parents who think their kids will love the package for Christmas. They may be impressed with it to begin with, but how are those parents going to feel when they shelled out $90 for a new dust collector??
i always get collectors items… will probably get this one…
