Visceral Games‘, Dante’s Inferno is a dark descent into hell. The entire concept is very reminiscent of God of War and there has been no end to the comparisons of the two games. One big difference was God of War III was playable at E3. Dante was only playable behind closed doors. This week, Dante has his first public gameplay demonstrations.
According to a recent press release, Dante’s Inferno will be in playable form at Comic-Con. This is not limited to elite members of the press, but is open to anyone who stops by EA‘s booth (Booth #5213) during the event.
Cool! Can’t wait for impressions.
sweet! get a vid!
The game is not God of War..the only similarity is the violence. its like someone sees a head flying off a body and assume look…its like God of War”. Even the story is completely different. this may sound dumb but games that use weapons should have blood and guts like Dynasty warriors (lol) that would be a killing field of violence..
@shadowjin
ACTUALLY~! if you have God of War (the first one) and you unlocked the bonus making of, watch the original version of GOW with a Knight. This is the old God of War. I’d say this is the cross platform version of God of War, it has Mythology, Action, Same brutal violence… shall I say more. (it’s the Ninja Blade to Ninja Gaiden)
Now a game you want to complain about being said to be like God of War and isn’t is the new Castlevania. Just because the guy uses a Fire Whip doesn’t mean his Fire Whip is exactly like the blades of chaos and the gameplay is exactly the same as GOW.
On another note, I’d love to see them find a glitch in the demo and have to instruct an employee at ComicCon to “demo” the game for you. (this happened with Mirror’s Edge last year and Castlevania Battle whatever)
@ Rictor
I have played every GOD and its not GOD.. i do remember that outfit but this guy looks different.
Dante’s inferno: 1 humans journey into hell. (im guessing to save the soul of that girl) to stray away from the book and give reason to the quest.
GOD: Kratos is a son of the gods in (there version) of Greek mythology, a game based on hatred.. (Kratos background and how the gods screwed him over)
violence shouldn’t make any connections. I could go on and on. Read Dante’s inferno.. the concept itself is different. If you are fighting demons its expected theres blood and gore. If thats the case than heavenly sword is a GOD clone along with many games that share the same concept (Mythology, Action, Same violence). Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Blade are clones even design similar (ninja concept) . Dante’s Inferno branches off to a complete different story and path even weapons are different. You also forget that Greek Mythology is not the same as the Christian views on Heaven and hell. if anything its more of a touchy issue in a main stream sense..
typo.. i mean GOW. lol (power typing)
@ Richard Allen
i wasnt implying you as in YOU but other sites have stated it a clone.. when its not.
similarities don’t mean anything..(unless) its Ninja Gaiden and Ninja blade.. straight rip off lol
if that was true than final fight is a rip off of old school double dragon they follow the same mechanics.. DMC1-4 would than be the original GOW because of its leveling up mechanics, QTE, violence and old text (made up) but there are religious connections in DMC. When i look at GOW and Dante’s inferno they look different and behave different. If it wasn’t for the gore and huge boss’s there would be no connection.
I can see why people would connect both but they are different…Visceral is doing a really good job in Dante’s inferno. Now a days you rarely see unique games out. Everyone takes from one another.
@ Rictor
Dante’s infernal deals with Christian/Catholic beliefs “heaven and hell” etc.. not mythology..To some at lease.
