Fat Princess Update Waddles Over

A new update for Titan Studio’s Fat Princess is on it’s way, the developer confirmed. The update will fix problems gamers have been facing since it’s launch.

The first update for Fat Princess will be fixing the multiplayer component, as some users have reported on lag, and not even getting in online games.

Lag

Players are sometimes experiencing significant lag in some games. Thanks to your feedback, we’ve identified a specific problem and already have a fix in testing. The matchmaking system will randomly pick potential servers bases on a number of criteria. As implemented, the results that are returned are fit in some regards, but sometimes have a high ping for your location. As a result, some players may be having a great experience, and others dealing with substantial lag. Leaving a particularly laggy game and joining a new one may result in a better experience. Unfortunately, it can be luck of the draw. The fix we have in testing returns a list of potential servers in such a way that it always favors the lowest available pings.

Connection Fixes

We have implemented a number of fixes for previously identified problems, focusing most of our efforts on connection failures. We have already tested this patch on our own client machines, and performance appears to be dramatically improved. We are working with Sony now to get the patch into the Sony testing process as soon as possible.

For those of you having trouble – thanks again for your patience. Fat Princess went through comprehensive testing with Sony in the US and Europe, and a beta, but these issues did not manifest until the game went live at scale. Rest assured, we’re working on it, and think we have it largely addressed.

There statements are a LIE, this was a known problem back in the beta. I infact logged three bugs that were NOT fixed in the final release but were present in the beta.

Maybe I’ll finally be able to melee someone for once after it’s implemented.

HA, the first game I played had horrible lag, the Knights were using their lv2 charge attack and looked like they were teleporting. from then on I didn’t have lag, but I did have it on the last game I played last night, I couldn’t charge attacks or continuously heal anyone (and I have a good connection). It seems it’s always when I’m playing a game with someone on my friends list.

I guess the update is welcome, but if someone caught it during the Beta and they didn’t make any attempts to fix it, that’s some BS, the Beta was happening since… May? and the game was delayed a whole month, they had their chance.

  7. Robotron Says:

I bought it on release day and I have been able to play online once since then…..ONCE.

DLC has many drawbacks and one of them is that you can’t return a game and get your cash back when it’s broken….or at least a damn credit.

  8. B1gg_Randall Says:

Yeah the beta had these problems… I played like 3 games online :(

Glad to see that Sony Online Gaming has not changed. It seems that almost every game that comes out of PSN has online issues. When will they start sharing this information with developers so that they can have a game that does not have the lag issues… It has been more than a year since MGO and still the “Majority” of online launches have had lag issues. There has to be a common component that has been identified. Or else they are hiding the real reason which would be that they are not getting enough hardware (servers) since they are not sure how many units will sell. But since they advertise these items in Home, Qore, Pulse and the OPM, they would realize that at least those user bases would include the numbers needed to calculate the network facilities needed to make gameplay seemless for online. Since this is the “future” of gaming it would be nice if someone would be able to launch a game without lag.

This is the 21st Century we should be past the lag, but this points out one thing, that the current state of the US internet is in shambles and can’t even keep up with the likes of Japan whom we destroyed in WWII and then rebuilt. We have the worst internet connections of the top industrialized nations, since we invented the internet in the 30’s for scientific research and then let the Telecom industry take over the public version in 1994 this is a farse.

I thought it used P2P, not dedicated servers.

someone mentioned it in an online game last night so
I don;t know if it’s true or not.

    gg btw

  11. MakaiOokami Says:

Oh come on SPD55. Xbox 360 has it’s fair share of online problems as well

Check the 360 forums for it.

    http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26983440

Not only that but that 1 in 100 game or what ever has its fair share of problems as well.

The online issues aren’t as bad as Super Smash Brothers Brawl… Like the only really high profile game nintendo ever had with online. I couldn’t connect to a game for like a year.

Don’t even bring up MGO. If you knew ANYTHING about what you’re talking about you’d realize that MGO isn’t even part of Sony’s PSN network, because Konami wanted to run their own network. That’s why you register for an MGO name and a Konami ID before you can even play the game and why none of the expansions were on the PSN.

On the PS3 and 360 Blazblue had lag issues, but they patched those within a few days of EARLY release. So even the people that pay monthly on their 360s have problems. Online isn’t that simple. Lag, proper synchronization, and testing the game and routing out the problems on a national and even international level is no small feat.

On games like Resistance 2 and Killzone, as well as Blazblue I’ve played matches where I was the top player even though I was running off of wifi. After the neccessary lag patches the PS3 runs amazingly well online. If a game isn’t worth playing after the first month, weeks, or even days because you had to wait for a lag patch, then it’s not your game anyway. Why do you think I didn’t buy King of Fighters XII early? Because I’m smart enough to realize that there might not be enough single player modes to last me till online gets fixed and I predicted internet problems for the first few days/weeks.

So calm your butt down dude. As long as there are still some lag issues on games like WoW and on consoles like the 360 you just need to realize that there are going to be lag issues and it’s not always Sony’s fault. How many freaking PSN games are in development. How many decent Online retail games are in development. How many lag patches are in development right now. How many specialists do you think Sony can possibly have in this freaking economy after loosing money on every PS3.

People want Sony to spend more advertising on the system, more money on getting developers to fix any and all online problems on the PS3, and they want Sony to drop the price. All the while Sony doesn’t want to charge for the PSN and neither do I want them to charge.

So your choice. You can deal with some problems on the PS3, or you can pay for online on the 360 and still have some problems. I’m curious if people can play 4 players on Castle Crashers now or if that STILL hasn’t been properly fixed. I think I heard 2 weeks ago that even with the Party system and other things you still can’t get a fourth player to join as easy as the other 2.

There ya go. Arguments destroyed courtesy of MakaiOokami.

I don’t exactly know what the big fuss is. I haven’t had it lag at all. maybe you guys just have been real unlucky or something.

    Fat Princess is the Stuff!

  13. Jonathan Leack Says:

So BF1943 came out and had some serious glitches, and the almighty EA hasn’t done anything about it. Fat Princess has been out for a couple days and it’s already receiving a patch to fix all of its bugs. Come on now EA.

  14. The Queef Sisters Says:

Thats great to see the Fat Princess team on the ball so quickly. Punisher had tons of issues and last I played it still wasnt fixed, battlefield has crazy mic glitches and two weeks ago they were dropping the servers at night to correct it, now Fat Princess has issues and 3 days later they fix them and correct the errors way to go FP team! Thats the kind of treatment gamers want these days.

  15. DarkAnal Says:

They better be fixing it, the lag soooooo bad that playing it online is almost impossible =(

  16. DGR8Mc187 Says:

I havn;t had a single problem with the game at all.
But I am glad they are at work on a patch that will resolve these issues for evryone else.

Oh yeah, Am I the only one whot has been immune to a games ” issues” and then only had problems AFTER it is patched?

  17. shadowjin Says:

i haven’t had any problems with Lag only joining a friends game.
