VidZone, the free online music video delivery service, had a bit of a delayed start in Europe. But upon its release, it quickly started gaining momentum. And content is not the only area the PlayStation Store application is gaining momentum in.
According to the European PS Blog, the free-to-use music video service has achieved one-million downloads of the application and, on top of this, 100 million music videos have been streamed. The blog post also mentioned that there are over 13,000 videos currently available on the application. Here are the most popular videos on the service:
- 1. Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow
- 2. Michael Jackson – Thriller
- 3. Lady Gaga – Poker Face
- 4. Michael Jackson – Beat It
- 5. Michael Jackson – Billie Jean
- 6. Michael Jackson – Man In The Mirror
- 7. Eminem – We Made You
- 8. Dizzee Rascal, Armand Helden – Bonkers
- 9. Michael Jackson – Black Or White
- 10. Michael Jackson – Another Part Of Me
With Sony’s renowned interests in social networking it’s worth mentioning that the success of their free-to-use stance on everything from their newly released MMO, Free Realms, to PlayStation Home, it looks to be in SCE’s best interests to keep the PlayStation Network free for all.

Is there any news that this is coming to NA/US region. There are lots of US/NA users that would love to stream free legal music video and not have to pay for Cable TV to have Mtv like service on the PS3.
^ i am one of them
Its in the UK and AU thats all that matters

I am definitely not one of the US users who would love to use this service, I guess I just don’t see the point when I can find all the free videos I want online. I wouldn’t complain if they did make it available, but I would probably download the application only to use it once.

If anything its more entertainment, you can create play list for parties and just hit play on your surround sound system and let loose. yes, you can do the same for a PC but most people have expensive amplifiers for home theater use. If it comes to the US try it out but limit it to a party atmosphere.
Vidzone is great. The interface and navigation can be a bit clunky but basically this is one huge free video jukebox.. Since Youtube stopped showing music vids in the UK this has become my sourec for dialling up new music vids.
How is any money being made from this?
Does anyone know of a hack to download vids to the PS3 to watch off line or send to PSP?
@ThatBoyTim
Money is made from the adverts you see when browsing and at the start of each video.
The only problem I have with VidZone is the method of searching for a specific video or artist as you can’t simply type the name, you have to use like….tumblers to choose letters/numbers or even enter a space between words in a band or song name.
However the VidZone guy on the EU PS Blog did reply to a post I made a few weeks ago saying they were going to fix the method of searching as it’s a big request from VZ users.
Still hoping this comes stateside, I would really like to try it out
