Electronic Arts , despite being outdone in market share by Activision (after merging with Blizzard), has undoubtedly made a name for itself this generation. With major hit titles like Rock Band and Madden, to new and unique intellectual properties like Mirror’s Edge and Dead Space, it’s a shame that some of these titles aren’t selling as well as their competition.
To combat this fatigue, EA is promising investors an “aggressive” marketing strategy for their holiday season lineup for 2009. According to CEO of EA, John Riccitello:
“With regard to Dragon Age, it’s a title coming from BioWare. It’s got a built-in audience given the strong reputation of BioWare, and Brutal Legend is one of the most unique franchises I’ve seen in a very, very, very long time. So we are stepping up marketing. We’re going at it aggressively.”
While this statement is potentially gratifying to gamers and especially investors, we hate to burst EA’s bubble but Brutal Legends is releasing on the same date as the highly-anticipated Uncharted 2: Among Thieves on October 13. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how Dragon Age and Brutal Legends will fare this holiday season in the same month as Gran Turismo PSP, Tekken 6, and especially Uncharted 2.

I think they should have moved it. I know i’m picking up Uncharted 2 first.
Brutal Legend just doesn’t seem to make sense to me. I know i won’t be buying it.
more marketing bs, everyone is trying to aggressively sell shit this fall/holidays.
@SolidCake_
yeah no kidding lol
I hate to say it, but Dragon Age and Brutal Legend look very average. I suppose they’ll sell well, but I doubt they’ll score well.
I do like the new ads for Madden 10 that were posted on the Official blog the other day by Peter Moore.

See that’s the problem all that article and all my adled brain could make out was UNCHARTED 2.
I have a U2 problem and the only antidote is months away.
Oh yeah and good luck with all that too EA.
As long as they keep marketing Rock Band Beatles. That is their best game this year, bar none.
