Although MAG has been rumored to be delayed until 2010, it seems as though Sony is ready to start testing if PlayStation Network servers can handle the bullet-flying 256-players per match, all-out wars.
PlayStation Network is now sending out emails looking for recruits to test it’s latest multiplayer game, MAG. The email reads:
Do You Have What it Takes? We are looking for a few good leaders to help us shape the most ambitious shooter ever.
Even if you were lucky enough to receive this email, it doesn’t guarantee access to the beta. Still it’s worth the ’shot’. Go check your inbox now and see if you’ve received the special access code to sign up for the MAG beta.
Thanks to WhutsGud! for the tip!

Damn, no email yet, hopefully I’ll get it soon
August 12th, 2009 at 2:06 PM
Wooo – got my email earlier today. What did you guys choose for your team preference? I chose “Undecided/Don’t Know”

Good question, we should all join the same faction
August 12th, 2009 at 2:13 PM
I hope I get an Email. I “beta tested” Home before it went public. (except it wasn’t much of a beta test, nothing happened and there were barely any updates, it wasn’t until Home went public did they actually fix the problems that were apparent in home the year prior) although it was fun getting random messages from friends say, “HOME!?!?! how is it” and me saying, “it’s pretty bad”
hopefully the MAG beta helps it become an awesome game.
August 12th, 2009 at 2:15 PM
i noticed tha all of the idiots that complain the most and are rude online, always get into the betas!!! i hate that!! the same thing happend with the home beta, they were all haters, and kept talking about how much home sucked. i just dont understand somtimes
August 12th, 2009 at 2:16 PM
@TheHater
its not always based on how many PSN games a person downloads and gets trophies. I know 4 PS3 users with nothing but PSN downloads and almost every trophy but maybe 3 retail games and there a level 13-15 and there not actively playing. i also know players that have 4-6 retail games and very few trophies and every PSN download game 100% and rarely on. its based on time spent, game variety etc.

August 12th, 2009 at 2:36 PM
Yeah I got the e-mail as well. Last gen I saw very few betas on my PS2, but this gen has been great for me with Uncharted 2, Home and LBP (and a few others I forgot).
August 12th, 2009 at 3:02 PM
@SS
my clan and i want SVER so i put SVER so it looks like i know a little about the game lol
@TheHater
i have been invited to just about every BETA since MGO and i contribute it to going on playstation.com and updating my profile when i buy new games… ive got like over 100 games on my list and ever since i did this ive been invited into a lot of betas.
08/12/2009 at 4:15 PM
i was worried putting undecided made it look like i didn’t know anything about the game, not the case at all. just really undecided.
August 12th, 2009 at 3:07 PM
so how do you get in?
are sony/zipper just sending emails to random/more active PS3 players registered email address
any info is appreciated
August 12th, 2009 at 3:34 PM
Registered and ready to go, now the wait begins.
Peace,
VG
August 12th, 2009 at 3:56 PM
I got my email!
I chose Valor *crosses fingers*
@ ElectroBoy
I’m not exactly sure how they’re choosing the people, but if you have more than one email account, make sure to check them all. My invite was not sent to the email address registered to my most active PSN account. Instead, it was sent to an email address that I might have registered with a long time ago for an account I no longer use.
August 12th, 2009 at 4:08 PM
I got my email earlier today. I hope I get accepted.
August 12th, 2009 at 4:17 PM
To everyone asking about Qore subscriptions… I dunno – I got in GAP, then Warhawk beta, then LBP beta, then SOCOM beta, then Uncharted 2 beta – and home beta somewhere in there. Didn’t get Fat Princess. But I continue to provide feedback on everything. I think it has a lot to do with making sure you answer and opt-in to all emails on us.playstation.com – make sure you fill out the “my accounts” area and keep it updated.
August 12th, 2009 at 4:18 PM
Got my invite, was totally not expecting that this morning!
August 12th, 2009 at 4:19 PM
Oh I forgot to mention, I chose Raven. I prefer that clean, sleek, professional look.
August 12th, 2009 at 4:31 PM
A lot of times those that don’t play much are the ones they target to get them into the swing of things to get them more involved. It is more about marketing to them than getting them as quality testers. If the game was delayed to 2010, then doing that would get them to play it and maybe get them to purchase it when it is released… I got into the MP Beta for Uncharted2 and with the way it worked it convinced me to pre-order the game. That was the first time in my gaming life that I have pre-ordered a game I usually wait for reviews or a demo to make my decision.
August 12th, 2009 at 5:30 PM
This is lame, if you want to get invited you know what you gotta do subscribe to Qore and buy alotta games off of PSN. That there is the perfect combo to get an invite into all the betas that will come to PSN. Not playing games on PSN all the time, if you not shelling out that dough then they don’t care how high you ranking on the leaderboards. Sony’s trying to reward people that are paying customers and seem like they will actually have the money to BUY the game when it comes out. Like those folks that buy crap off PSN all the time and subscribe to Qore and also contribute when they are actually invited to participate in set betas.
August 12th, 2009 at 5:45 PM
I never get this kinda stuff but oh wells enjoy the beta guys.
August 12th, 2009 at 6:08 PM
So how soon can we expect a confirmation or “declined” email?
August 12th, 2009 at 6:17 PM
@SS
sorry i was trying not to make it sound like i thought you knew nothing about the game but i guess i didnt succeed lol. i just meant thats why i did it because i had the same worry
August 12th, 2009 at 9:27 PM
I got into LittleBigPlanet and Home and not this? Is it still region locked?
August 12th, 2009 at 9:48 PM
If you want to get into Betas like these, first off get Qore or reserve a title, and then be good and constructive in the forums and give a lot of feedback through the proper venues and you get a higher chance of getting invited for these kinds.
I don’t offer that much feedback because I’m not that competitive and have no idea WTF I’m doing and rarely come up on issues/bugs that no one else comes across.
August 13th, 2009 at 1:13 AM
@MakaiOokami
I’ve not subscribed to Qore and hardly reserve any games but I am very active in the PlayStation forums. I also sign up for all game-related websites and their newsletters. Also, I have 6 PSN accounts – 3 US, 1 Japan, 1 UK, & 1 Hong Kong. Since receiving my PS3, I have been invited to the Home Beta 2 times, Resistance Private Beta, Resistance Public Beta, LBP Beta 2 times, NAMCO Museum Beta, & MAG Beta which is currently pending. I’ve also been in the Uncharted 2 MP beta, but only because it came with inFamous.
I hope Sony doesn’t see this post and snuff me out, or that I haven’t jinxed myself! I just wanted to let you know that I go about getting into betas without paying a dime.
August 13th, 2009 at 2:15 AM
Can someone tell me how to join???
August 13th, 2009 at 3:54 AM
how annoying,
I’m a GAP member, and i was invited to test the beta for Uncharted 2… but i think i didn’t get invited because i never redeemed my code for Uncharted- I was too busy and my school gets lousy interent connection. Phooey.
August 13th, 2009 at 2:09 PM
I got a Registration Invite yesterday =]. Will i be getting an invite for sure?
August 13th, 2009 at 5:43 PM
How come I didn’t get the email?
hope mine was delayed. I’m really looking forward with this game.
August 14th, 2009 at 8:40 AM
Ok. let me just first say that what everyone said about the requirements for the beta is bullshit. I have the game paid for in full. i subscribe to qore, i actively update my psn account, i post on the forums, i take surveys, i have bought countless games off playstation network, im registered on zipperint.com. I mean, if there was any requirements for the beta you would think i would meet them. im pretty sure its completely random.
