MAG has been rumored to have been pushed back to 2010. The official release date has finally been revealed. Are the rumors of a “massive” delay true?

Unfortunately yes, MAG will be joining the ever-growing list of games not making it during 2009. Just revealed on the official PS.Blog, MAG will be launching it’s 256-player warfare come January 26, 2010.

As sad as it is to see the title get delayed into next year. The extra time will allow for added polish and server stress testing. As well as it not getting overshadowed by the major releases coming this holiday season.

    so has the first wave of people got their email yet confirming theyre in? i dont think i got in

  2. emjayx says:

    ok well i was annoyed when i read this but when i think about it, i don’t want it to be another socom confrontation.

    @Jeneric: i don’t think it’s a confirmation, it just asks you to register for the beta, and it says registration does not guarantee participation.

    It can never be a SoCom confrontation, it will be a MAG server installation. I have hope that Sony not Zipper will finally get its act together with their online launches, they have SOE inside their building to help them hopefully they can make this launch less eventful. Maybe they finally see that if the plan for the maximum amount of users that it is money well spent. Since it will bring good publicity inside the community and that will drive this game forward, remember Word of Mouth is free advertising and it works faster…

    @emjayx
    oh i know that. im asking about the second email confirming that they are in… not the initial one… i recieved the initial one

  5. Hopefully after MAG bombs Zipper will return to their Socom bread and butter and rescue it from the gutter. Sorry, but MAG is a big stinker all the way around.

  6. shadowjin says:

    i knew that was gonna happen (hence) why i didn’t pay any attention to this game.

  7. I’m glad they are taking there time and jan 26th ist that bad

  8. @mitch cumstein

    I love people who think they know how a game will do before even trying it or getting into the beta. I’m gunna laugh when it takes all of your friends off of call of duty.

    @ The Queef Sisters

    to be honest.. whats special about MAG besides 256 players? it looks like any FPS out there. And i love how people glorify a game before its released.

    @shadowjin

    It isn’t just the player count that makes it special. It is more than just 256 players. It is 16 squads battling another 16 squads in objective-based gameplay, with a leadership hierarchy.

    I don’t mind. I’m kinda sad but happy as well. Because now, I’ll have more time playing Uncharted 2 and Borderlands.

  12. ElectroBoy says:

    the right thing to do, even if the game is ready now
    if released this year it will get raped by Modern Warfare and enter the gaming void like Far Cry 2 (amazing game but released at the wrong time)

  13. Smart move by Zipper IMO. They pushed it back 2 months, big F’n deal. There are plenty of games coming out this Holiday season to keep most gamers busy until the end of January.

    Peace,
    VG
