With Sony’s GamesCom Press Conference only two days away. Just like we did with our shockingly accurate E3 predictions, we’ve decided to compile a list of what we ‘predict’ Sony will have in store for PlayStation owners. Sony’s GamesCom Press Conference is this Tuesday, August 18 in Cologne, Germany.
Here is what we ‘predict’ Sony will announce at GamesCom:
- PS3 Slim – 120GB HDD – $299
- Gran Turismo 5 World Wide Release Date
- Heavy Rain Character Reveal – Release Date
- PS2 Backwards Compatibility Firmware Info
- More Motion Controller Details
- New SCE PS3 RPG
- Sony Bend PS3 Game – Possibly Syphon Filter
- Agent Reveal Trailer
- New PSN Service
- PSP Go App Store
- Starhawk Reveal
- Reinvigorated PS Eye Support
- Pledging more support for PlayStation Home

Will there be a live feed of the Sony conference like there was for E3?

We are looking into the possibility. But at the moment, we don’t have anything planned.
That might change though by Tuesday.

im hoping there will be a live feed *fingers crossed*, or at least an announcement of the latest in the jak and daxter series (i know it wont happen for ages, but the hope is still here)

I’m more excited for this than I was for E3. It’s like Christmas coming twice a year! LOL.
I will also predict a Hanna Montana ‘Lilac’ PSP Go!

Hoping for an Agent reveal trailer, GT5 and Uncharted 2 eu release date. That and PS3 Slim announced. Tired of hearing rumours about it:p

I’m with you squadass, I would love a new Jak and Daxter game. I am extremely jealous right now of PSP owners who are getting Jak and Daxter. I am actually very surprised they have waited this long to bring a new game to this generation, but at the same time Naughty Dog has been very busy with Uncharted.
I would love it if all of these predictions came true, especially the announcement of firmware which would include PS2 backwards compatibility. I’m also very excited to hear more about Heavy Rain and Agent. One more thing I would like is a North American release of that DVR add-on for the PS3 that they have in Europe.

Personally, a PS3 price drop/slim unveiling, Heavy Rain details and GT5 details would be completely awesome. Everything else is bonus points.

TBH, I only agree with the first 3 things there (and maybe the PSPgo app store) but I’m fairly confident Andrew House will unveil the Eu Video and Music Store.
@giese095, Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier is also coming to PS2, so if the PS3 gets backwards compaitibility, you’ll be able to play it too

Info on the uncharted 2 collectors edition would be nice, also a release date for mag. Mass rumors about that unlimited playstation network downloads are floating around, hopefully we find out about that

I think this peredictions would be pretty accurate. Hope they also announce a PSP price cut. And also maybe a GoW release date.

Now for the rest of the news that is fit to be rumored. No the BEST BUY add is only a rumor and I would be more apt to believe a 120gb at the $299 Price for a New Slim if it does come this soon in the production cycle. If not they can still reduce the price and still sell more units.
Games would also be nice we know that Uncharted2 is being set for release in October with other games to follow. A new RPG title would be good for those that crave something different from FPS. It is time to move on from the FPS domination in the US and get into the RPG genre since it could attract some casual gamers into the next level of gaming…

-new playstation experiance(aka 3.0 firmware)
-Resistance 3
-Resident evil outbreak file 1 and 2 on playstation store
-new motion control info
-GTA 4 DLC
-NEW GTA PSP
-and trophy award system
-and Resident evil psp news

Heavy Rain Character Reveal – Release Date (not during the conference, maybe during the week)
PS2 Backwards Compatibility Firmware Info (don’t think its likely unless its hardware form)

Sony Bend PS3 Game – Possibly Syphon Filter (nah…E3 2010)

New PSN Service (video service…maybe stats on Vidzone)

Don`t worry man GTA Chinatown Wars is confirmed for the psp and it will use the full capacity of the psp system,
about the GTA IV DLC, Really??? after so many time do we really need it now?

know what they should do.
announce syphon filter 5 and release it on the day its announced.
if they did that allot of peoples heads would explode, i know there would be a bloody line out side of my local EB.
ive been preying for a new syphon filter game since the ps3 came out, but i doubt they will announce it this year.
they just announced agent.
they have so many games due out next year its not funny announcing another game is madness.
they still have david jaffees game to announce more than likely at E3.
i want a syphon filter game yesterday, but doubt we will see one on the ps3 for at least 2 more years.
and i hope they dont do their usual BS and announce it than release it 4 years later like they normally do.
that really pisses me off.

I gotta say im more excited about the GT5 release date than anything about a slim model. Unless there are some really cool new unheard of features in this new slim i definetly won’t be swapping it out for my original 60gb one. There is simple no point.
