PS3 Slim Officially Announced

It’s what we have been talking about since before E3. All of the rumors can finally be put to rest. Official details of the PS3 Slim are here, direct from Sony’s GamesCom Press Conference.
After much anticipation the PS3 Slim is here.
It will be available the first week of September, and has all the specs the current PS3 offers. The new PS3 slim comes with a 120GB HDD, and is 33% smaller, and 36% lighter. It also offers a lower price point of $299!

Hopefully at $300 they sell more units..i mean bigger harddrive and same specs for $100 less I don’t see why not. If these don’t fly off the selves people are crazy.I have an 80g backwards compatible,4 usb,memory card reader PS3 so I still have no need to buy another but for people who don’t have a PS3 this is awesome news.

Nice very NICE! I’m even more blown away at the price tag— $300! I want to go out and buy one as soon as I can but I’ll wait a few months first.

I’m not really into the shape of it though…I’m thinking about buying the 160gb since they say all current models will be 299 starting tomorrow.

you have a good point though. PSPgo + game = PS3? I know it’s portable (like FiftyQuid said). But compare the current, er old, prices. Portability isn’t worth THAT much.

How much are 360s in America?
cos the cheapest ones over here are £120 and the “Pro” at £180
tbh i think the Slim will retail at £250,
and i know which will be by far the better purchase for your $ or £
(PS3 was always the better purchase but now its just too good to turn down)
might buy one when my original 60GB starts showing signs of age, so i dont have to play it as much as i dont want it dying

Great news, i’ll pick one up to replace my 80 gig. Too bad no news on backwards compatability though. This will be a good Christmas for PS3.

Your better off just buying the 80GB PS3 & Upgrading the Hardrive. You would get a better deal that way and if your interested in Uncharted Drakes Fortune then you can now buy it for $29.99 so it’s not that much of a savings buying the 160GB anymore. It might cost you just a slight bit more but you will probably get a vastly larger hardrive and more value out of your PS3.

I wont lie the new playstation looks awesome. But my main concern is backward compatability which many playstation 3’s dont offer. I happened to get lucky and bought the one that had full compatability. And yea so what its lighter, i definetly would buy another just because mine is heavy. definetly not worth it
