Sony has just announced the new Digital Reader for PSP at GamesCom 2009. Though its initial use will be for the digital delivery of your favorite comic series, Sony has bigger plans in store for the service.

The service will offer graphic novels, indie comics, and local comics as well, including everything from Spider-Man to X-Men, Iron Man and Fantastic Four. The biggest names in the comics world are putting their support behind the Digital Reader for PSP, and it is set to launch in the US and EU territories this December.

We’ll keep you guys updated on what else Sony will use the Digital Reader for. But until then, stick with PlayStation LifeStyle for all your GamesCom updates!
