Now that the PlayStation 3 Slim has been officially announced, what’s next? A bundle, of course! However, this one will only be making an appearance on Japanese stores, as you can tell from the box art.
To continue Japan’s never-ending love affair with all things Gundam, this bundle will include the new, fresh-off-the-conveyor-belt PS3 Slim 120 GB, a controller, and a free copy of the game “Kidou Senshi Gundam Senki”.
The game itself comes with extras, such as online vouchers for free downloads of an original HD Gundam animated movie, as well as in-game “FA-78-3 Full Armor Gundam” and “RX-81AS Assault Armor.” The limited edition bundle goes for sale starting September 3rd for ¥38,359 (Around $400 USD).
Kudos to Sony for getting a bundle ready so soon after all these announcements!

Yes, they really changed the PS3 boxart. It’s not just Eyepet, it’s not just the Gundam above. I believe it was jack Tretton who said the first western game release to use the new boxart will be Uncharted 2.
In case anyone hasn’t noticed yet, this entire phase Sony is going through right now is product re-branding. They are appealing to the consumer psyche. By introducing a “new” console, changing the logo, dropping the price, streamlining the box art with that of the PSP box art, and even bringing back the old “Play-Stay-Chun” at the end of their commercials, they are reinvigorating interest in their product. It’s a common business move when you need to get your sales jump started again, and despite all of the criticism PS3 has gotten since launch, Sony has done pretty well for themselves, and I am inclined to believe everything they have said about things going according to plan, in regards to manufacturing costs and this upcoming season being like a PS3 launch all over again.

@kweit i agree! they brought thier original logo back. Maybe for good luck charm? People say that the PS3 is a disappointment because xbox360 sold more. When the real thing is that xbox360 is not really going out of the margin that it’s first year advantage had. With these kind of economy, Sony is pretty much healthy for still selling despite the criticism of high prices.
