With the newest update to PlayStation Home, 1.3, a new, and much wanted feature, will finally be implemented. Game Launching, a feature that has been available only for a handful of games, is set to become a universal game feature within this update.
The process is quite simple, according to PlayStation Home Specialist, Locust_Star. All the player has to do is insert the disc of a game that is compatible with game launching, while the player is in Home. They’ll never have to sign out of PlayStation Home. While games that fully support Game Launching will have more intricate options, such as match type, the new Universal Game Launching will take players straight to the multiplayer section of whichever game they switch to.
As always, stick with PlayStation LifeStyle for all your PlayStation Home updates.

JEez, It’s about time. I become more interested in Home as it becomes more useful. This was one of the things Home was announced as being capable of doing. Regardless of time delays, im happy to see it’s finally here.
Now if only we could get on the Trophy’s being patched in and incorporate gamer levels into special features/items/access….

no mention of Pets? wasn’t that the next big thing for Home?
taking pictures and fashion show stuff is kinda gay if you ask me.
no offense intended to those who like that sort of thing.

so you’d prefer pet fashion shows?
*oooo sick burn*

Hopefully the speed up the loading time. I know increasing my cache to 12GB would help with HDD loading, but that doesn’t address having to re-download EVERY location each time a minor part is updated.

@SolidCake
Taking pictures can be used at your discretion, for a multitude of things. I don’t know what fashion show you’re talking about. What’s such a big deal about pets though? I think universal game launching far outweighs pets, being that, ya know, it’s about the games, and it is something that just about everyone on the official boards have been asking for for a long time. I personally didn’t think it was going to happen, but that feature alone makes the client update a success to me.

Can I have my Trophy Room…Please?
I know Trophies aren’t 3D (which they should have been made as), but I think Home can allow you to display certain trophies as 3D or 2D art in your house. I’d love to stick all the Fallout 3 Trophies on my Wall.

@Rictor
Supposedly, the trophy room/Hall of Fame is still in the works, but they wanted to get other things out of the way first. I believe this is the update they needed to incorporate before that becomes a reality.

This is nice. This would encourage more people to log into home and interact. It’s much better than just looking at the same old lobby.

I just hope that the game launching sort of stuff will at least let games like Rock Band hook up into a band. If not Harmonix should fix that. They’ve done a lot for us, but nothing lately. It wouldn’t take THAT much time to go “Hey we’re going to add like 3 options to game launching so that people can hook up easier”
I mean all you have to do is select quick play, tour, or competitive. There aren’t THAT many options. This will just make the match making system into a lobby system so to speak.
