Gran Turismo 5′s release date has remained a mystery for over a year now. However, it seems that brochures were given out to press members at GamesCom 2009 which detail the targeted release date.

According to the brochures, Polyphony Digital expects to release Gran Turismo 5 in 4th Quarter 2009. The brochure can be seen below, and while the text is in German, a quick translation yields both the expected release date as well as some general information about the game. It also ties in with some information we dug up earlier this month regarding a holiday release.

I won’t really be surprised if they released it this year. It just makes sense as it would have remote play right?

My guess would be around Christmas Holiday Shopping season which would be the end of November or first week of December.

  3. If my memory serves me I am pretty sure PSLS published an article saying it will be released Dec 29 so, so far so true as a wise man once said xD

I personally feel that Gran Turismo will be out well before December 29th.

I think this because if you look at the original Playstation, the game that was best selling was ‘Gran Turismo’ selling 10.85m copies worldwide. For the Playstation 2, ‘Gran Turismo 3:A Spec’ sold 14.89 million copies worldwide and for the Playstation 3, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue sold 3.94m copies worldwide. While the last figure isn’t as big as the previous two this is down that Gran Turismo 5 prologue is not the full game and what is I’d class, an extended demo of the game yet the anticipation of the full game made the Prologue sell more copies than some of the other popular titles around for the Playstation 3.

Sony know that this is their huge title on the platform and wouldn’t risk running past christmas which is the time when everyone buys games more than any other time in the year, yet the time when the full game which will sell a lot more than the prologue and they put it after christmas, after everyone has gone skint because of the overspending due to christmas, it doens’t make sense.

I predict that it will be released back end of November, like ‘SPD55′ suggested. That timeframe is ready for Christmas, some people get paid their wage at the end of the month so lots of people will be able to get it on day-release either for themselves or for someone else.

[...] This information doesn’t come from our regular source, but given how the previous “premium” PS3 bundle featured another flagship PS3 title, larger HDD, and a voucher for the downloadable game Pain, this proposed bundle certainly sounds feasible. Especially after the recent filings of the 250GB PS3 Slim being unveiled and the Gamescom Gran Turismo 5 brochure claiming a Q4 2009 release. [...]
