Despite predictions set by mega retailer Amazon, Sony Europe‘s head, Andrew House, has assured worried potential owners that the retail transition into the PS3 Slim will be seamless. However, since Sony has cut the price by their fat 80GB and their 160GB PS3 Uncharted bundle by $100, many retailers are claiming they have run out of stock of those respective units.

So unless Sony releases the PS3 Slim earlier than their planned September 1st date, retailers may be Ps3-less for some time.

“I’m very pleased with how we have managed our inventory system on the existing model.

“We’ve done that very well in the European market. There are trucks and trailers leaving right now – it’s on the road.”

ofcourse everyone wants a PS3. Sony would need to release the slim early if they want to keep up with the demand. Oh wait. It’s just a week so maybe people could wait? hmmm….

  2. Everyone wants a beastly PS3 now.

  3. That slim sure is growing on me…I still don’t like the push buttons rather than the snazzy touch sensitive ones we have now, but I am starting to like the look of it.

I don’t care about the physical buttons. I never used the touch buttons on current PS3 anyway. I used the controller. I can’t wait to pick this up.

  5. Hold the press.

    @KwietStorm

where can I find the button to eject disc from the controller? I did not know you could do that.

LOL Dude. It’s in the XMB. Go to the disc icon under the Games folder, press triangle button, and there is the option to eject. Hope that helps!

tbh i think a stock shortage could potentially be a good thing
in theory it could make the demand for a PS3 shoot up and thus when stock is replenished sell more

i think xbox did it on purpose but they denied it,
it was one of the case studies for economics

  8. My PS3 died today… :(

The yellow light. I need a new PS3! lol

  9. wtGp says:

maybe they have learned from their intial release of the ps3 and are now ready to supply the demands of the consumer

They need to work on those distribution channels!

  11. HELL FREAKING YA! It’s our turn to have a console that people can’t find. I mean look how hard it was to get the Wii then 1 day you see the Wii on shelves and it never dissapears. Hopefully that “GOTTA FIND 1″ obsession becomes and extra selling point of the PS3 where people are just so dissapointed that they can’t find one they keep looking. BOO FREAKING YA!

  12. KwietStorm says:

Makai, Nah, I completely disagree with that. I don’t know if you were being sarcastic, but I wouldn’t be excited about people not being able to get a PS3 when it has finally dropped into their price range. The thing is, there are cheaper alternatives. I hope Sony does all they physically can to meet the demand. It’s good that everyone will finally be able to experience PS3.

why would someone be buying an 80GB PS3 right now when they can get a 120GB one for the same price in just a couple weeks??? some people’s kids…I would be happy to be out of stock on the 80GB models right now if I was a retailer because no one in their right mind would buy that one at $299 when they can have a slim
