Although Uncharted 2: Among Thieves won’t be released for another 2 months, it is already being heralded as the best-looking console game to date. The first gameplay footage of Uncharted 2 displayed the protagonist Nathan Drake in Kathmandu, Nepal. Side-by-side comparison shots of the game versus pictures of the real city itself shows just how close the artists over at Naughty Dog have come to replicating the real world.

Check out the comparison shots in the collage below:

this is what you get with… 1 word—-PlayStation

  2. Trexman Says:

they tried to put this game on xbox, but they were up to their 12th disc before they realized it was a ps2, and its not acually possible on an xbox

  3. Cameron Teague Says:

very nice.. great attention to detail

  4. uber_paddler Says:

@Trexman Not trying to be a fanboy or anything, cause I’m not, but you do realize the PS2 was by far the weakest console last gen and the Xbox was by far the most powerful, so just how does your statement make any sense at all.

That aside, holy balls htis game is gorgeous. It’s truly an example of what the PS3 can do.

  5. giese095 Says:

uber_paddler – you do realize that unless you count the GameCube the PS2 and the XBox were the only consoles of last generation, so saying that the PS2 was the weakest is saying it was only second best…also considering the XBox was released a couple years after the PS2 it had to be the most powerful system of the generation otherwise they wouldn’t have sold any. I’m not saying your statements or wrong (I do disagree with your choice of the words “by far” though seeing as God of War I and II always looked better than anything that was released for the XBox), or that I agree with anything Trexman said, but if you’re going to make an argument it could be a stronger one…

  6. uber_paddler Says:

Well really it would be the 3rd best, not 2nd because why would we not count the Gamecube…but I get your point. Either way, all I was pointing out was that Trex’s blatant anti-Xbox statement was ridiculous, that’s all. Unless he was employing hyperbole, in which case I apologize. And yeah, I agree, GoW 1 and 2 were both better looking than any Xbox games, it’s true, but that’s saying more about the skilled programmers than the power of the system. Yes, perhaps “by far” was pushing it a little though.

  7. Cameron Teague Says:

you would actually count the cube above the PS2??? wow

  8. megs1120 Says:

Wait, why are we talking about the Xbox?

Oh, and yes, as much as I love my PS2, it was the least powerful among the PS2, Gamecube and Xbox. Probably more powerful than the Dreamcast, but I don’t know for sure.

It was the DVD drive and fantastic exclusives that made the PS2 what it was, not raw computing power.

  9. KwietStorm Says:

The GameCube WAS more powerful than PS2, it is a fact. PS2 was weak by comparison to both of it’s competitors. Now will you all stop with the off topic fanboy bullshit and just look at the pictures.

Its one of the reason to get the game. Better than Great Graphic and better than Fun Gameplay. I’m glad I chose the PS3. :D

And yet… and yet… still there’s no confusion over which is the game, and which is real life.

We are repeatedly promised “photo-realistic” graphics, but they aren’t. They’re beautiful, and technically impressive, but they don’t look real. I’m still disappointed by that.

  13. capt.fodder Says:

    @nemo20000

Man, take my advice and give that up. Photo-realism is not only a pipe-dream with today’s tech, but it is useless besides. All it does is make it take longer and more cash to produce each title and it adds absolutely nothing to it after you’ve played it for more than two minutes. Back in the days when I put hundreds of hours into Ultima 4 I don’t ever remember wishing that it was photo-realistic. If someone told me that we aren’t going to bother advancing graphics tech anymore so we can focus on gameplay, writing and AI I’d be a happy camper indeed.

But on another note, those pics look very nice. I just hope I get more than six hours out of this one; I don’t want to go on a sight-seeing tour, I want a good game.

  14. SolidCake_ Says:

agree, story first, then graphics. If they both come together you get a cookie.

  15. dbigfeet Says:

    ummm damn

  16. BigWoopMagazine Says:

looks beautiful,,, definitely agree with capt.fodder on that I hope for some decent length. I felt pretty good about the length of the original, and I don’t think they’ll be cutting this one short. Considering the success of the first one, why would they stop short for this?

  17. DGR8Mc187 Says:

    That istruly amazing!
