LittleBigPlanet is no stranger to recalls. The original LBP release saw a quick recall to retool the sound track slightly. Some people ended up getting the game early and some had to wait for the retooled version. This latest recall shouldn’t worry any fans of the lovable sackboy as it is ushering in a new moniker for LBP.
Internal memos at GameStop indicate all of the LBP stock will be packed up and returned. The Media Molecule masterpiece will now carry the GOTY, Game of the Year moniker and it’s about time really. GameStop currently lists the familiar version as unavailable but it seems BestBuy still shows it available online.

Why can’t they just sell the old version for cheaper? What are they going to do with these versions?

@ MakaiOokami
They’re going to discourage them

I agree with MakaiOokami, why not just sell the old version for the new price? Seems kind of silly.

this doesn’t make much sense really…many games have released a GOTY Edition and left the original on the shelves.

Sounds like this is a Gamestop only thing. Probably so they can still charge full price for LBP by only carrying the version that will sell for the higher price.

I saw this 3 days ago.

@Makai Agree! I thought that was going to happen. I also think it’s better for people to choose which version would they like to get. And just choose what kin of DLC interest them. It looks more like a force DLC buy. lol. But well, the GOTY edition looks more appeling.

The old versions will be discounted and will be while supplies last clearance items at most retailers. I have no idea what gamestop is going to do, most likely discount the used version by 5 bucks or something. I’m betting that the goty version just ships with a d/l token for the extras but has the identical game disc from the first release

@Devon I thought that the DLC should be on disc already. That would explain for the recall.

Cool stuff LBP has definitley garnered its share of awesomnes.

Misleading title. I though you meant a recall of every copy of LBP. I wish I could get the modnation beta. 8::(

I thought the same as everyone else. I would never return it though unless the disc had a flaw that caused it to break.
