PlayStation Review Round Up – August 09

August was not the best month in terms of new game releases. But we did see a new addition to the annual release of Madden, as well as the much anticipated Batman: Arkham Asylum (review next month).
Now even though the PS3 was lacking in quality games last month, in addition to not producing a single 5/5 review, there were some notable 4/5 reviews. Two were released in August, Madden NFL 10 and Singstar Queen, and both are fun to play either by yourself or with a group of friends. The other three were released early in the summer. Overlord 2, Monsters vs Aliens and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs are all fun games, with the last two being excellent kid-friendly games.
Even though the PS3 may have been lacking in quality releases, PSN was blessed with two great titles. Fat Princess, which was released in late July, was one of the few 5/5 offerings from last month. Its quirky gameplay and fun online play makes this a welcomed addition to the PSN offerings. We also gave a 5/5 to Smash Cars which, though lacking in a lot of content, was still extremely dynamic and enjoyable.

how is Valkyria Chronicles not an editors choice? What kind of people you got working here??

lol well editors choice only goes to games released this year and since it was a retro review no go

yeah august was kind of a crappy month their was some solid releases on PSN, September for me only has 1 game MUA2, but October has some really good releases, i have so much pre-ordered its going to be an expensive month, but looking forward to it

@binary yeah! That’s why i’m trying to convince myself to just get Uncharted 2, and borderlands only. I’ll try to get the rest sometime in the future. Plus, I know my wife would buy tekken 6, so I took it off my list.:P So many games, too little money. *sigh*

ditto kirobz. We got quite a couple of months for gaming coming up here… just had batman, now Mini ninjas, Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Assassin’s Creed 2, MW2, Tekken 6, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2,,, the list goes on… rediculous. And I can only buy 2?! oh no…

@DGR8M yeah! and she can’t wait for it come out! I’ll just try to convince her to buy the hori stick bundle.
