Now that the PS3 is available for the low price of just $299, countless consumers have been snatching up the snazzy new slimline systems at a feverish rate. But there’s one particular console that’s priced even lower than the PS3 Slim, and we’ll show you just how to get it.
Sony has listed their refurbished 40GB PS3 consoles for just $219, a full $80 below what the normal console sells for (and cheaper than a Wii). You can buy the very cheap 40GB PS3 right here at SonyStyle. The consoles ship within one business day, which is a nice little perk on top of the extra-low price.
SONY!! I have never seen you so agressive!!! I THINK I LOVE YOU!!!!!
Yeah, man. Sony isn’t playing around anymore. We’re starting to see Sony’s PS1 days, when they had commercials directed to the competition (Crash Bandicoot commercial) except this time, they aren’t that arrogant anymore! wooo!! haha
Sony is doing a good move by giving alot of opportunity for gamers who want a PS3. I just wish that they would release some of that in retail. But to think that the PS3 is currently priced at $300, its a steal for everyone.
damn, cheaper than a wii. Now this is a good deal.
you would still have to be stupid to get the 40GB for $219 when you can get a brand new machine, that hasn’t been refurbished (always a risk for me), for $300. I mean you’ll end paying the extra $80 eventually anyway to upgrade the hard drive so you might as well dish it out now. Unless of course you don’t plan on getting many PSN games or downloadable movies or getting much DLC,, but I know I started to fill up my 80GB really fast and so chose to upgrade to a 320 GB. I probably wouldn’t have needed to go all the way to 320, but now I never have to worry and the way technology is priced anything smaller felt like a rip off.
This should be shouted from the rooftops!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is one hell of a deal.
Heads to the forums for some good old fashion promoing
Remember don’t be a homo get out and promo
sounds like a good deal if you wanted a seconf system for Blu ray use like me
Wow, that is a price that’s unbeatable.
now that’s a good deal. I’m gonna mention this to my bro, see if i can get him to jump on board.
@giese095 – I have a 40GB. I’m using only 8GB. I have all the LBP DLC, R&C Quest for Booty, PAIN, PJM/Encore, PJ Eden, Savage Moon + DLC and all of Home downloaded. Not too mention I PULSE, and CORE downloaded. 40GB is plenty as long as you don’t have a crapload of .mp3, .avi, and jpg files clogging things up. You can delete Save Data for games you’ve completed too.
I have no plans to upgrade.
I have a better deal, $69.99 at fry’s electronics. Problem is they sold out 3 weeks prior to the price cut and only 3 stores had them (one in arizona and 2 in texas). I tried to transfer all them to my store but someone must have realized how rediclous of a deal they were and swooped them up before they were transfered. Yes they were open box returns but they were fully backed by sonys warranty. I was hoping for a 2nd ps3/ dirt cheap blu ray player
Refurbished 40GB? $80 more and you get a brand new Slim, meaning 80 more gb, and probably a longer warranty. That just doesn’t seem like a good deal at all to me. To each their own though.
@Fifty I have a 80gb. I only have savage moon, and FFVII, about 10 demos, and I’m now down to 25ish GB. I should have just gotten the 160GB. But well, I’ll just wait till the price of HDD goes down.
I agree that buying a new one is way better than refurb.
dont know what you are saying $80 more you get 120gb. that is dumb because really with $80 and you can buy a 320GB or bigger HDD. So unless “new” is your thing this is a damn good deal
Good deal for someone who does not have one.
I have a 60GB but upgraded to a 320GB and am down to about 100GB.
@yellowdart I’ve only had my 80gb PS3 for about 6months and its now down to about 25ish GB. I’ll upgrade it on my birthday, Dec. 24 (my birthday sucks, I only get one gift each year).
dont see how this is a good deal since its a refurbished ps3, i wouldnt get it if i didnt have a ps3. u can put in another $80 for a brand new, smaller, less power consumption 120gb ps3…
Actually Giase095 (sorry if I butchered that) it’s a great deal. Cause even if you’re planning on upgrading it’s better to spend the 80 you spend on an HDD upgrade than to buy a more expensive unit and upgrade later. If someone doesn’t have that much to the point where they have to buy a cheaper console they probably can’t afford to fill it up with games either. Besides they should be focusing on non install great games like Uncharted until they can afford a better hard drive.
They can easily make out with getting a 320GB hard drive for the price of a 120 GB console.
Refurbished isn’t a bad thing. Sometimes they are more reliable than a non refurb because of testing. It’s like a crap shoot. Just remember there was a man who bought 3 HDDs for his PC and each one failed within a month. That’s damn near unheard of.
So it’s not bad to get a refurb unit. They’re like new and tested to work so you shouldn’t get a DoA.
@makai yeah. But I think the downside of the refurb is a shorter guarantee. I mean, better to be sure, right?
If somebody is buying the gaming system it’s because either they just don’t have the money for the new systems and are just barely making this purchase so suggesting that a refurb is a bad idea means them having to wait even longer for something that they couldn’t really afford in the first place. And refurbish PS3 aren’t like other gaming system refurbs they actually work and won’t crap out over and over again.
@kirobz – How many games do you have installed? Delete some of your Game Data, and Save Data and that’ll free up a ton of space. Games like MGS4 I kept my Save Data, but erased everything else since I don’t plan on playing it again anytime soon.
Also, the 40GB refurbs look different (some may prefer the piano black), allow Linux OS installs, and other things. It’d be the cheapest way to get some research PS3s or if you miss any of the features we lost!
Interesting tweet we just got from @danny_ramos:
@PSLifeStyle it wouldn’t make sense to promote the 40GB refub model as those are units Sony already sold and doesn’t count for sales numbers
