Great article Sev! haha ok ok, I’m partial to this news tip ;)

But this really is good news. I like the boxart too.

  2. Steven Garcia Says:

Nice, Sev! That’s awesome. A 32GB PSP sounds great, but with the PSP Go priced at $250, this can easily add up to well over what it should be.

  3. JackC8 Says:

So I’m thinking an extra 60 bucks or so to play the games you already own, on top of the PSP Go which costs as much as two DS’s? Somehow I don’t think Amazon will have much trouble keeping these things in stock :)

  4. JumperPrime Says:

Ummm, I don’t have a PSP(waiting for PSP Go to be released) but from what I’ve been able to dig up online, the PSP-3000 and its predecessors don’t have much in the way of onboard storage. The specs I found online for the PSP-3000 indicate that it’s only got maybe 38 MB of storage without plugging in a memory stick. If pretty much all of a PSP’s downloaded content is stored on a Memory Stick Pro Duo, what’s the point of including an adapter designed to allow a Memory Stick Micro to interface with a PSP-3000 and earlier models?

    StalkingSilence says

I have a PSP-2000, you’re right that the older ones don’t have much as for storage. Here’s where it would be helpful. If you didn’t want to upgrade to a PSP Go, but need a new memory card, you could buy one of these M2s with the adapter.

Then use it for a while, putting videos, games, save files, and anything you want on it. Then when you’re ready to upgrade to a PSP Go, or it drops in price, then you take the M2 out of the adapter and put the M2 card into your PSP Go.

A free adapter isn’t all that bad, right?

  5. Ejsponge61 Says:

Man, X-mas is going to be expensive. Uncharted 2, God of War Collection, Borderlands, PSP Go, $70 of PSN Cash, and now this.

    StalkingSilence says

You don’t NEED this. But may be nice down the road if you find the 16GB storage is not enough.

  6. Danicus Says:

“The 16GB M2 card doubles the standard memory, hugely increasing the range of games, movies, [etc]…at your fingertips…The 16GB M2 card can hold 7 PSP games…”

Ugh, maybe I’m slow; but I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to get my GoW: CoO (from my Kratos PSP purchase) playable on a PSP GO!

    StalkingSilence says

We’re still waiting to hear of Sony’s solution for UMD purchased games.

  7. Robotron Says:

For content you buy online the PS3 is great for holding all those PSP games (if you upgraded your HDD), but I think Sony should release a UMD game ripper or some solution for people who have already bought the game.
How about a utility on your PS3 that reads the game to the PS3 from the UMD and stores it for transfer to the PSPgo? C’mon Sony this would = more sales.

    StalkingSilence says

No it wouldn’t – it would equal more rentals. Everyone would just do that. They’d have to only allow you to do it once for each disc, which is a pretty tough technological problem.

  8. DGR8Mc187 Says:

I do believe Sony mentioned a one time deal where you can send in your PSP UMD games and be sent a voucher to tranfer them digitally to your Go. If I am correct that would be the best route.

  9. kirobz Says:

@DGR i agree! This would be more prone to piracy, imo.

  10. TwinDad Says:

I don’t see in the press release where Sony stated you can swap games. they mentioned everything but games. I don’t believe they have a solution for games UMD/Digital. Maybe digital can be re-downloaded on the PSN, but still no solution for UMD. You might consider changing the article to reflect “hopefully” games.

  11. Devon Simpson Says:

I can’t imagine how expensive the 16gb bundle will be, but those 100 included songs is nice. Does that mean the psp is getting a music store then or will thiat be integrated in to the new media go pc software

  13. Superstrokey1123 Says:

I got all excited at first is this was the way to pull my umd games into my go… guess no reason for that yet.

  14. KwietStorm Says:

Damn I thought this was about UMD transfers.

  16. Brent Says:

If only it were a UMD transfer kit…. =(
BTW, how do you guys post emoticons?

    StalkingSilence says

colon as opposed to equal sign?

  17. Natiej85 Says:

I’m just not seeing how investing in a PSPgo is a good idea when you can pick up a PS3 for 50 bucks more? I’m talkin in general if one didn’t already have one or the other.

  18. KwietStorm Says:

^ I don’t think many people buy a portable INSTEAD of a home console. That’s never been an argument.

    StalkingSilence says

    *DING*

  19. Joshstork Says:

To be honest it isn’t that much of a size increase. I have a CR-5400 that adapts 2 micro sd cards into a pro duo card, so currently im running on two 8gb micro sdhc cards with tons of games movies and music, bigger than my ipod :D

  20. jazer Says:

hehe idont have any versions of the psp….so im gonna start fresh with the PSPgo and i have friends willing to let me borrow there 3000’s so can i download their games onto my go?….all for free? any1 know??

  21. Captnstryker Says:

I wonder has anyone realized that the new all digital format of the PSPgo is actually a step toward insuring video games will never decrease in price, once they phase out UMD PSP’s, older titles will likely never decrease in price.

Why would there be a need too? since in theory they can just copy & sell, repeat forever… You’ll never own a tangible thing.. if you delete it likely your screwed, and never be able to buy low and sell at profit.. “RIP Cheap games” I think the PSPgo is a corporate money maker and a consumer money pit.

A more consumer pro system would have had a way to transfer the UMDs you own to the PSPgo (even temporarily like for 60days) that would mean you’d have to re-copy it and not just trade it off or share UMD’s.

  22. Nyreth Says:

Maybe I am just too tired and am missing something here but…
This sounds like the stupidest thing Sony has suggested in a while. How does this help you transer stuff from your old PSP to your shiny new Go when the current PSP’s store all the saved data on the Memory Stick Duo you will have to REMOVE so you can insert the new M2 with it’s silly adapter?? Transfering game saves, music files, etc from the old PSP to the Go isn’t a problem (hello USB cable). In fact, I have never heard anyone mention it as a concern.
I hope this is some sort of joke and Sony is going to address the real problem of the UMD’s. I would really like to get a Go, I love the idea of not having to lug around UMD’s or cartridges. To me, that’s a truly portable gaming system. But I am going to wait to see if they can solve UMD problem. Because if I do get one, more than likely I’ll keep my 2000 for my husband to play. Why in the world would I want to turn in all my UMD’s just to have the right to download what I already own? Talk about crippling my 2000! Then I have to go buy a bigger Memory Stick unless I want to go plug it into the PS3 every time I want to change games.
I got a PSP 1000 when they first came out and I’ve been a fan ever since. The sad thing is, I am really afraid Sony is going to leave exisiting UMD owners out to dry. And that is going to feel like a bit of a kick in the teeth to loyal Sony fans.

  23. jazer Says:

    PSPgo ruuulleeess!! any1 agree?
