I have to say Batman AA, RE5 and Infamous are probably my 3 favorite games of this year. I’m just finishing getting the rest of the riddler trophies I need one trophy and two teeth in the intensive treatment then I have to complete the game on hard and I’m done.
some of those riddler trophies are killer, I still can’t make the question mark out of the vents in the mansion. I see it, but can’t complete. I fail so hard it’s funny.
great game, great review, def top 5 this year for me too.
Actually I have learned the story was taken from a graphic novel. It was slightly toned down for the T rating, but they did a good job of making the narrative playable IMHO.
Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth
I meant to get some video captures of Joker. Technically it wasn’t apart of the game it’s DLC. Basically additional challenge rooms using the Joker. They are pretty tough as the Joker doesn’t have as big a bag of tricks as Batman does. He walks super funny, I get a kick out of it.
[...] Did you like Batman: Arkham Asylum? You did? Well, that’s good, because the game could be getting a sequel. Batman: Arkham Asylum was developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. and has been well received by gamers. [...]
Good review – I think is a great game. I still don’t have the timing right to get some long combat combos going but I reckon I will get there. Its a really immersive game that just keeps drawing you in.
One Question – Once completed can you go back and pick a chapter/section to play like other games? As there is no specific “you have completed level 3″ announcement I wonder if you can go back and pick a battle to do again?
This would be useful to pick up trophies and challenges. I know its free roaming but once the goons are down they stay down don’t they?
*Off Topic* I just noticed that I have never bought a multiplatform game for the PS3. I have about 8-10 games too. I guess I should really buy this game for a good start.
Great review. This game’s a masterpiece. I’ve been playing for the past week or so and the most impressive part is the hand-to-hand combat holds up. Fight sequences, as Batman OR Joker, doesn’t get old after the 10th or even 40th fight. It’s just damned fun. And graphically, this game is very impressive in about every area. It looks great on my 720p but seeing it first-hand and playing it some on a 1080p was astonishing. There’s a ton of other greats aspects of the game, too many to go in to. 5/5
[...] Batman: Arkum Asylum is one of this year’s best games. It’s hard to imagine a game this good could be getting even better… but, in 9 days, it will… [...]
I finished the story mode of Batman Arkham Asylum last night, ending the game as it began by bringing the Joker, this time a Titan induced monster, to his knees. To be honest it wasn’t very hard! Perhaps a little disappointing as a Boss Battle and definitely an anticlimax to what has been an awesome game.
The final cut scene is similar to the recent Batman movies, a quiet word with Gordon while a call comes in referring to a new crime being commited by another legendary villain.
The game has been engaging and beautifully designed from start to finish. The characters are great – Harley, Joker and Ivy all delivering great lines and looking cool and sexy (I am referring to Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn of course). The Scarecrow levels were a little different styled very much like a traditional platformer and they helped tp break up the game with little like mini games. Scarecrow also delivered some of the creepiest moments in the game including ne where I though my PS3 had crashed. The game “rebooted” and I was ready to start complaining to someone when I realised that Joker and Batman had switched places in the Batmobile. Very clever moment indeed.
Bane and the Titan injected thugs provided some frustrating combat moments that forced you to slow and think about your moves. Fighting on Arkham Island is nothing like Tekken!
Add to the lush graphics some great puzzles, the coolest in game gadgets ever and a stealth system / detective mode that in my opinion gives Metal Gear a run for it’s money.
If Uncharted 2 wasn’t coming out next week followed shortly after by Modern Warfare 2, I could see myself running through the Challenge Modes and also going back to the Asylum to pick up the trophies and solve the remaining riddles.
The problem now is that the island is deserted save a few, chattering Joker teeth and the odd lunatic. It’s just a little dull and going back to find the Riddler clues isn’t that exciting a prospect.
This has turned into a bit of a review so I should give this game a score and a final word. So here it is:
I loved the game. Beat it on hard and finishing up the riddler challenges. Having a hell of a time getting the perfect free flow and all the medals for the 100% trophy…this isnt an easy platinum but its def not a hard one either..just time consuming. Awesome game though
I have enjoyed this game so much finished the story line, and planning to finish it again on hard difficulty as soon as i finish with the games that are pending with me finished the whole stealth missions but somehow i am having problems with the combo challenges

This game has no concept of “decent art”. Looks like my dog could have givin BatBoy realistic Abs.
And Dont Get me started with the “Graphics”. They make me sick. Im not sur if “trayark” or anyother brand name but they really screwed up.
Im a fan of action. I rate this…. a solid 4.5 our of a solid 10. Better luck next game trayark!
