As shown at GamesCom just a few weeks before, PlayStation Home is receiving quite a bit of love. On top of receiving tons of content regularly and major overhauls as of late, the PlayStation Home galore isn’t going to stop anytime soon. By the looks of it, Sony has something big up their sleeves for the Tokyo Game Show about their online social community.

Showcased at the CESA Developers Conference in Japan, SCE’s Masami Kando demoed some enticing features for Home in their developmental stage. Perhaps the most anticipated out of the bunch is the ability to stream live audio and video broadcasts such as podcasts and TV shows in-sync with your friends.

Finally, as confirmed by Home Community Manager, Locust_Star, PlayStation Home’s upcoming pet feature was demoed at CESA as well. Lastly, full PlayStation Store integration in Home was shown off.

Although still officially in the open beta stage, PlayStation Home is looking to evolve beyond what was promised when the service was first unveiled.

  1. Ooh piece of candy! lol

HOME has really turned a complete 180 since its launch. It still needs a little work done here and there but overall, its actually pretty good.

    Good job Sony.

@WarHawk I agree! They’re really putting in much content on HOME. Which is great for HOME users.

Wait, has the universal game launching update been released yet?

  4. None of that which you reported is beyond what was initially promised.

Audio and video streaming were most definitely promised. Pets were never promised but it isn’t that big of a step at this stage.

They initially showcased LBP with the game launching ability.

Home was essentially promised to be a big thing on the PS3, a place that you can make your own, that you can share your own content. Once video, audio, game launching and dedicated servers where people can enter our apartments when we’re not online, then we won’t have all that we were promised.

The thing is though, Playstation Home was also promised to be just the beginning from there and to become an ever expanding and evolving application, so I don’t get how it can be evolving past it’s promises so soon. They set their ambitions so high, they have a lot of catching up to do.

  5. these are all much needed features

  6. @MakaiOokami

Right, but it’s coming. What I was getting at was that this is the beta and between now and a full, official release, we’ll be seeing more and more features.

BTW, why haven’t you accepted my friend request on Facebook! :P

im a little 2-sided with home…although yess i love the homes, love some of the diff. rooms and the minigames and how you can win things…but at least bring the voice back!!! they had it before and took it away in the earlier beta.. just being able to chat with a mic would make me want to go on home more.. a LBP space would be essential… i still have yet too launch a game from home..and i have farcry2, motorstorm:pac. drift and the namco games :\. .. when u launch from home, do u join the other ppls games that are in the home room withya?

  10. Yeah, but how much are going to overcharge us THIS time?
