Final Fantasy XIII has been previewed and written about ever since its debut at E3 2006; amazing stuff considering the game is scheduled for release in 2010, a full four years later. Fans have been waiting a long time for another FF installment, and FF XIII’s Yoshi Kitase and Motomu Toriyama have an answer on how long future installments will take to complete.

When asked how the development team can boost production speed and get the epic RPG installments completed faster, the duo had this to say:

“For FFXIII there are a lot of firsts, and because it’s a new console that the teams are working on, it took a little time for the team to get used to everything. Now that they have the engine built for it the basics are covered, so the development time for future projects should be shortened. Still, it may not be as simple as Wada thinks (laughing).”

i think they ran into a few issues programming for the PS3 that caused a massive delay. Since Final Fantasy is there “Icon” (sorta) and it being a new system they kept going back to the drawing board with FF13. Also there side projects dont help..
