PS3 Executes 1000x Super Sales Combo

GamesIndustry.biz had a little chat with Chart-Track , revealing that sales of the PS3 have broken through the glass ceiling and achieved a multiplier of over 10 times the amount of sales seen the previous week; the amount of increase is estimated at 1000%.
It’s so very plain to see that this price drop and hardware re-release was really what people were waiting for. It seemingly breathes new life into the semi-deflated brand we’ve seen struggling to reclaim its dominance over the past couple years.
Anyone excited?

My “regular” model PS3 just today broke again. unreal. 2 systems in a span of 3 months. I’m thinking about getting a “slim” for sony decides to charge me for the service.

Sorry to hear that Wicked One, mine went out for times in 1 year twice after the warranty was out, and technically it wasn’t a bad PS3 just a string of faulty blu-ray lasers.

if they would have only advertised their credit deal through SonyStyle.com for $100 off your first purchase a little more, maybe they wouldn’t have had to wait so long to get sales figures like this. Just so everyone knows, they still have that deal so you can actually get a brand new PS3 slim for $199 + tax + S&H. Plus, I think right now they have free ground shipping on orders over a certain amount.

We consistently do not tolerate fanboyism directed at any console.
The fact is, Sony’s gaming division HAS been partly deflated over the past couple years, and only recently have we really seen the rise of fantastic exclusives and promising online service and sales numbers.
That’s fact, no matter what way you slice it.

agreed.. i feel the same. it was a lure to see a Playstation only site but since than ive found others, even some getting out of beta stages in a few days.. ill still come here maybe 1 time a day for certain writers stories i enjoy.

I read an article on PSLS a few months back that said Sony was losing money on evey console made and sold and that if they were to cut the price by even $50 they would be losing millions of dollars. So just a curious question now with the hardware revisions and such are they still losing money on every console made?

Hey what are the names of the other websites that are playstation only!! Cause the xboxlifestyle thing made me kinda sick to my stomach!!! I read them saying the ps3 is the greatest console then they’re saying the ENEMY is still in it!! I really believe this generation is over for the other 2 and just the beginning for sony! Amazon NA is restricting the PS3 slim sales to one per household now, that’s also a pretty good indicator of demand. In a non-scientific way of course.

This comment board is crazy…
It’s like you guys love PSLS one second, then you hate them the next. I’m not sure how this happened. I’m blown away.
BTW, I have never owned an Xbox and don’t plan to. I just hate how fanboys can pick a side and criticize the other non-stop. Games should be the deciding factor when buying a console and the PS3 has the best exclusives by far. That does not mean trash the other and call it inferior. The 360 is still a great console no matter what you say. (I despise Microsoft though.)

you dont “get it” do you? when someone advertises a Playstation only site and than switch’s.. what do you expect? to some , this site was different.. in a sense that you could come here from PS3 news only. Most people here don’t love the PSL as NEEDED.. they just enjoyed there NONE BIAS PS3 NEWS that they always mention. . Anyone thats followed them before the switch, can tell the writing style has changed to more cautious. This isn’t an 360 vs Sony fanboy rant. take destructoid writers Jim sterling.. the guys very opinionated, he loves the 360 and anything PS3 related theres always something negative.. hes consistent and doesn’t jump ship with every article. You can take his opinion and know where he stands.

If PS3 keeps sales like this up…wow…I mean it isn’t even time for Christmas shopping yet. The 360 will get kicked off its pedestal if Sony continues their marketing onslaught. This is just ridiculous.
Everyone and their mother around here are picking these things up. It reminds of me of the furby craze or something.

Xbox Lifestyle was mentioned in October of 2008, it’s not a particularly new thing. It’s nothing to get worked up about, come on. Console wars really aren’t that big a deal, the 360 isn’t pure, hot, loud evil.
Support the PS3 all you want, but don’t bash the 360 or you’ll be no better than those 360 weasels constantly badmouthing the PS3. We should be supportive of the guys here at PSLS as they share the love with the guys on the other side.

OK, I was not going to join the PSLS/XBOXLS fray, but I must put in my 2cents… When I first heard of Playstation Lifestyle, I jumped in to check out the hype, ever since I’ve constantly been coming back here for more PS related news… When I heard that Sev would be launching an XBOX website, to be honest, I was a bit disappointed because, well, you felt as if this place was a safe haven from what was at the time, a web filled with Sony bashing. I own a website that will soon be released, it is not a Playstation only site (I am not a fanboy) but I did feel bad for all the people who come here everyday because they thought it was a loyal PS site. And I believe it is; all you have to do is look in the history of the articles…. You know Sev has a preference for Sony —http://playstationlifestyle.net/about-us/ and I believe that is what made this site popular… I don’t agree with John just pushing away folks who made this site what it is; Yes I know, Sev works hard to keep up the site, but ultimately it’s the users who keep the hits coming… If you’ve been part of PSLS, YOU SHOULD NOT LEAVE< it’s an excellent place to come and get news… but John, DON”T BE SO HARSH to people who made this site popular… just allow them to rant… they’ll get over it and keep on coming for more… Answering their rant in such a harsh way will only send them and many others bolting to other sites. Where would we be without competition? Wallowing in our own slovenly lazyness, because you’d still be the best, and that would be lame. Let’s face it, without Microsoft and Nintendo the good folks at Sony would not have worked so hard to bring us the quality we see today, which is finally making the sales it deserves. Without other videogame websites to report the news on it, the people making PSLS and XBLS wouldn’t have worked so hard to bring us a great website with constantly updated news. Interesting….as long as the 360 crazies get the same responses and posts deleted then all is fair.
Also the original comment that started all this was a joke statement continuing the movie “300″’s idea of Sparta. I never saw it as fanboy drivel and the guy didn’t need correcting. It’s like walking up to some guy after his sports team finally wins a big game and telling him the other team is still great.
Of course they are still great, but stating it at that time just causes trouble.

I’m brand spankin new member to this site but I have been following stories on here for a few months now. The only reason why I even found this site was because of my urge to find a steady flow of news about my favorite console. What caused this urge? Such sites as IGN, 1UP & Gamespot with their biased, flame war ensued, lack of any actual content articles. All their articles are filled with Xbot fanboys who purposely go on PS3 articles just to flame. That’s the problem with Multi platform sites. Your asking for flame wars. It’s like having the KKK and Black Panthers meet in the SAME building!! No matter how many time you say “no tolarating of fanboyism” it won’t stop it. And if you just keep deleting comments and banning, then there goes your user base. I really enjoyed this site because it was PS only and every comment was PRO PS3. Now with this XBOX section it will only be a matter of time where you’ll see over 70% flame wars on each article. Let’s get real guys.

Personally I don’t care if you have an Xbox or a Wii. You chose what you chose whatever. Personally you chose to pick a console that will have no support in 2 to 3 years down the line. Sony is not blowing smoke when they said 10yr lifespan. You want to talk facts, that was the case for two console generations now. Where the N64 go after the GC, where did the GC go after Wii? The same for Xbox. Either way it’s whatever. My only grudge I have is for the level of ignorance Xbox and Wii owners alike have over the technological advances the PS3 have over the two. People in the NA market are always Oblivious to this. Why isn’t the Xbox flooring the PS3 in other Regions? How is it possible that other countries understand what constitutes as a better machine and understand it’s epensive for a reason. When it was here in the USA where the Automovil, TV, Telephone and A-Bomb was first made. I well spent over $700 for my launch system because I understand of what it’s built with and I understand of it’s potential.

People care more about the writers.. WRITING the story and there opinions.. If i go to Bestbuy and get use to a sales man and he bash’s the competitor… than 1 day you visit them and see the same salesman from Bestbuy how would you react? They lose creditability .. thats why you see more new people commenting and less and less of the original people. There are many other sites out there the are exclusive, i found this site by mistake and enjoyed some of the articles/people. This isnt about 360 vs PS3! No one said it was anything new ..judging from the date the 360 site was mentioned and its “grand opening” shows no one cared about it. Now thats its open, its effected the PSL site. If you say anything, your now a “fanboy”. There are many other sites out there besides the PSL its just a matter of using Google or asking a friend. to delete VictiousBostons post that was not rude at all shows it, than john V telling encouraging others to leave on the ground of being a fanboy is messed up. Its expected from a PSL/XBOXL writer..
In the end, this is still a NEW site..
