NBA Jam Jumping for Rebound

“He’s on Fire!”…  One of the most memorable gaming quotes in history. The quote comes from Midway‘s 2-on-2 arcade basketball phenomenon NBA Jam. Could you be hearing that, and other famous quotes from the game once again? We have some evidence that suggests just that.

NBA Jam could be making a return. The National Basketball Association (NBA Properties Inc.) has just filed a trademark for NBA Jam. The trademark covers a  plethora of video game related areas.

NBA Jam would be a perfect fit for the PSN/XBLA, and the addition of local, and online multiplayer would bring the series to a whole new level of fun.

“Boom-shaka-laka!”

not really, real hoops at a friends driveway pwnes this junk. a big part of being a gamer is doing things you can’t do in real life. imho anyway.

  2. I’ve been begging for this game to come to my XBLA and/or PSN. It just seems to be a perfect fit for the downloadable platforms. Eazy peazy, nice and eazy right? Actually NO its NOT that simple because you are dealing with all those players that are no longer in the league. I don’t know what exactly it would cost but I seriously doubt we are going to see a direct port considering how much it would cost to reach an agreement with all those older players.

Having said that, I am almost certain we will get NBA JAM, but it will be interesting to see how they sidestep the licensing issues. We might be talking about an entirely new game, or a port of the original with current players. I don’t care who or what it will take but it needs to be done.

p.s. DAMN YOU PS Lifestyle, you got me hooking up my Super Nintendo just to play NBA JAM. You had me hooked at “BOOM SHAKALAKA!!”

  3. Solidcake, yeah because we can all jump from beyond the three point line, do a couple of flips and then dunk it. Im thinking you are a youngster that never played JAM. Thats the only reason I can think of for disrespecting this classic.
