Need For Speed Shift, by Electronic Arts, has been a lot of praise for seemingly redeeming itself for the past releases in the series. Although that doesn’t stop the drama and backpedaling for misinterpreted statements.

Originally Andy Tudor, developer on Shift, stated that the damage effects were better in Shift than Gran Turismo 5. The reasoning behind this is because of GT5 having rollcages in the car. Shift does not have this at all within the game. Tudor then said that the inclusion of the rollcages made it not “quite so realistic”.

Many people took this as a bashing on GT5, and took offense to it. He has now revised/updated his statement to say that it was a good workaround, and that Shift has yet to need to do that.

    Should have minded his words first.

  3. Karum Says:

    And why exactly is having a roll cage in a race car not so realistic?

    I’m not sure what he was trying to say with that comment.

  4. kirobz Says:

    @Gunak true.

    I don’t think that he doesn’t know that there are alot of GT fans. It is like the most known and love racing series. If they want to make you realize that their product is better than GT5, they should have let the gamers/consumers say it. Not by making a statement like this. lol.

  5. Odium_Generis Says:

    Well, it’s the STATEMENT ITSELF that makes no sense. He makes it sound like roll cages aren’t real. I think he meant to say that their crashes are more “punishing” or “spectacular” because of no roll cages. That would probably be true. REALISTICALLY, a roll cage would prevent some crushing damage.

  6. xST-ANGERx Says:

    lol, rollcages are unrealistic? rally cars, british touring cars, nascar you name them, they’re all real life racing cars, and they all have rollbars in them in order to stop drivers being crushed and killed should the said cars flip or roll (hence the name rollbar) over!

    god i hate ea! i really do, and i consistently refuse to buy their games no matter how gd they are rated. if they made games that were as great as some ppl say, why do they feel the need to roll out a new version every 9-12 fuckin months (along with ridiculous amounts of dlc that should be on the disc to begin with!).

    Hes just a douche. Plan and simple, kinda like Lane predicting a win against Florida. Why???????????? Just let the game reviewer talk about such things whilst you sit back hoping and praying your game sales. And not end up lookin like an ass like ya boy Lane
