Blur Farther From Finish Line Than Expected
It looks like 2009 will be known as the year of the delays. That’s what it seems like, as a new racing game has been pushed back pretty far, especially since there’s already been some introductory advertising at retailers.
Activision has announced that Blur has been delayed into 2010, to “give the development team more time to enhance the game’s innovative and distinctive online multiplayer gameplay.” The game has been compared to Mario Kart, as the title features arcade style handling and vehicular combat.
In a press release today, President and CEO of Activision Publishing Mike Griffith said this on the game.
“We are committed to making Blur a great new racing franchise, and we are very encouraged by the game’s design,”

There are already 3 racing games (NFS:S Dirt 2 and Supercar: Challenge)coming out this holiday season that i know of which is more than needed plus not to mention whether or not GT5 comes out. It definitely wouldn’t of done well with it being the only new IP Racer.
I personally think it is more likely they are delaying so they aren’t bringing a new IP out at the same time as all these other veterans in the racing genre. They should just hold off until we haven’t had a racing game for a while. For the past couple years there have hardly been any decent racing games, besides off-road, and now all of a sudden we are being somewhat over-loaded. By the way NFS Shift is a great game for anyone who is holding off from buying it, it is definitely worth a buy to keep your racing thirst quenched until GT5 comes. Also Dirt 2 is THE BEST off-road racing game I have ever played, in fact it is really the first one I have ever enjoyed.
I think this is actually good for me because I want to get the game, but it is not my top priority. With games like Uncharted 2 and gran turismo to keep be busy, this delay won’t delay me.
Compared 2 mario kart? +_+
