While the PSPgo has been stealing the spotlight as of late, the PSP-3000 is still on the market and receiving the PSP title lineup love. However, despite UMD’s still being distributed for the former PSP models, the actual handhelds are getting updates as well.

Just announced at this years Tokyo Game Show, the PSP-3000 is expanding its line of color choices as seen above. Launching in Japan at the new lowered price of ¥16,800, these new PSP-3000 colors will be released on October 1st–the same date as another particular PlayStation handheld.
Do you think these PSP colors will hit the US? And more importantly, would you purchase on of these over the PSPgo? Post your thoughts in the comments below.
green psp \m/ but i may buy the pspgo…just gonna wait a bit and see the support first.
I’d buy an orange PSPGo, but i’m done with the PSP 3000.
Those colors have been around for a while. I have the green one. I doubt it’ll come to America because it hasn’t yet, and there have been loads of special colors in japan before these.
l like the blue color
I would absolutely buy a green one, but no, I doubt they will hit US shores.
If you’re wanting to get it, though, you can buy it from http://www.japanvideogames.com. It’s import, so it costs a bit more, but it’s oh so neat to walk around with spirited green, vibrant blue or bright yellow, isn’t it? I love the carnival colors.
(the other color, radiant red, well, it’s neat and all but nothing can beat the others, can it?)
Why does Japan always get the extra stuffs. *sigh*
Hey, big thanks for the information. I will order one from them. Any issues with language involved, or because logging in with US account it auto updates that way? Very cool, thank you.

Language isn’t an issue, I don’t think… I can’t tell because I know japanese, so I don’t remember having a problem getting it to English. The only thing you can’t do on Japanese PSP is watch American UMD or downloaded movie content, but I’m sure you can still upload your own movies to your PSP in a region-free file like .avi; I’ve never actually tried watching movies on my PSP!
I never watch movies on my current PSP anyway, even traveling just bring a couple of games. So not a factor. That was a great tip though, I saw one of those about a month ago & was like yeah
I have a Japanese PSP and UK UMD films work fine.
The only big disadvantage is that the function of the O and X buttons are swapped (to the more logical O=yes, X=no) in the XMB, but whether THAT mapping or the opposite Western mapping applies in-game is entirely at the whim of the developer (and in some cases is actually broken – showing “Press X” on screen but only proceeding when you press O!).

@nemo it works? I will have to try with a digitally downloaded film, not interested in UMD movies.
