Ben Heck, the hardware modifying extraordinaire, originally conceived the one-and-only ‘PS3 Laptop‘ back in 2008. However, since then, the original PlayStation 3 slimmed its size and as such the PS3 Laptop needed one “Heck” of a redesign to keep up with the program.
\According to the modification aficionado, the design held the possibility of being shelled in a smaller form-factor but was not because the attached 17″ screen was a must for the laptop.
Here are the specs of the redesigned PS3 Laptop from Ben Heck’s personal blog:
- PS3 Slim Hardware, with cool-running 45nm architecture. Very VERY quiet.
- 17″ widescreen LCD with HDMI-DVI digital connection.
- Built-in power supplies / compartment for the AC cord.
- Push button volume control with stereo speakers.
- Sleek white monochromatic styling with pin stripes.

If only I could get this.
i want.
cool. it needs a keyboard.
Wow.
very nice
and another note, how is it powered? lithium ion batteries, or does it still need to plug in?
very fucking cool, I would buy this in a heartbeat.
I also agree with BigWoopMagazine, throw a laptop style keyboard in the middle and this thing is the best for gaming on the go.
Hell, I bet (with Mr Ben Heck’s knowhow) there is some way to add a laptop battery or something with a longer power life so this would be the ultimate PSP.
now that’s awesome. You could play ps3 anywhere u go now
If only my laptop was like this.
That’s pretty badass. It must have cost a pretty penny, though. I could totally see people buying one of those to play on a trip… move over PSPgo Ahahaahaaa!
Always love this guys work.
/applause
No Battery it runs off a cord but who cares an outlet is always close these days.
So when is someone going to essentially profit off of this stuff and sell these things? I would so pay 600 for 1 if I had the money
Fair do’s thats well clever! I doubt he’d be given license to sell them Makai. A company like sony would tear him a new arsehole in court if he did, i would imagine.
10/10 for the finished product tho, gotta be said.
