Perhaps preparing for the launch of the PSPgo, Sony is preparing to unleash even more digital goodness for the PSN Store. Although these particular games are not new in any way, fans of ‘classics’ should be happy.

According to new listings on the ESRB‘s website, 5 new PS1 Classics will make it onto the PlayStation Store. The full list includes:

  • Bomberman Party Edition
  • Dirt Jockey
  • Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
  • Silent Hill
  • Tomb Raider III

No further specifics regarding a release date or pricing were given. However, it is safe to assume that we can be seeing these games in the near future. Do you appreciate Sony’s effort to bring PlayStation 1 Classics onto the PSN Store? Post your thoughts and feelings in the comments section below.

  1. I kinda want Soul Reaver on my PSP at the same time though I’d rather have the DC version :P

more ps1 games sweet now they just need to add ps2 games

  3. onionpaper says:

Silent hill came out a few weeks back, it’s like $5.99, good stuff!!

  4. Tomb Raider 3 has been on the PSN for a while.

I just wish I could play Monsters Deluxe on my PS3 and not be limited to a psp :(

    PJM = Best Game EVER!

  6. onionpaper says:

@CMax420 as an owner of both PJM and PJMD, I can tell you the differences are few. Be glad you only spent $9.99 instead of $29.98 on the two games, since you only have one system on which to play it! I’m glad that I got both because I like to play it away from home, but yeah, no need to have both on one system!

as time goes on I care less and less about earlier games.

I also wish there was less emphasis on multiplayer & shooters

    /done

Yeah, I hear where you’re coming from. The more they try to drive this whole “nostalgia” thing, the more I find out that I’m not a very nostalgic person.

That said, if someone wanted to develop Fallout 1/2/Tactics for my PSP, I’d likely get pretty excited…

  9. wtGp says:

aw hell yeah, Soul Reaver is the best

  10. SolidCake not all of this is even nostalgia. Many games still hold up to be great games even decades later. I never played R Types until I got the PS1 version and I was hooked. Shooters need less emphasis but a lot of the time multiiplayer needs more emphasis.

Solid Cake must really hate the idea of M.A.G. then I guess.

Where’s my FFVIII, Legend of Legaia, Xenogears, Legend of Dragoon, and Darkstalkers? And also bring Rival Schools.

  12. @kriobz – good list!

@makai – agreed! I was incredibly happy to see Castlevania: SOTN when it came out, its the sort of game I wish there was more of in a next generation form, but its still just really great, whether you played it back in the day or not.
