EyePet is one of the biggest casual games coming this year, exclusively on PlayStation 3. In a surprise almost no one saw coming, the original title has been bitten by the delay bug. The title is currently in development by London Studio, and will be published by SCEE.

EyePet has now joined the other titles to be released in 2010, moving away from their original 2009 dates. The SCEA representative that confirmed the delay said this:

“[The SCEA marketing team] will spend additional time to continue educating consumers and retail channels, setting the table for a successful product launch.”

You can look for EyePet sometime in 2010.

I get the feeling this was pushed back to coincide with the release of all the motion control stuff in the Spring. Suppose that would make sense though; that would be when people start looking at the PS3 for a new casual experience. If they just bought the camera for the wands, then they might pick this up too.

i think this is a good move on sony’s part. All though it would be cool to have the game out this year, just another thing that sony has and Microsoft doesn’t, but the problem with putting this game on the market now is it probably wont do well. I dont know anyone who really wants this game, Sony has to educate people on what it is, and how it can be a blast for the family. They need to figure out how to get this game in the heads of kids and parents. If they cant do that then the game fails

I for one am anticipating this game! But I do think it would be much better in a bundle with “sphere” and cam packed in. Also, this would be much more an enjoyable experience as something of a change of pace -until proven of more value- option to be either copied or downloaded to hard drive. Unless considered a great game or a classic, the games I rarely reach for are to be traded or gifted away.

Just a thought. Bundle it w/cam and High Velocity Bowling. Sixaxis wasn’t as bad as I’ve read, just rarely used to great effect.

the eye toy camera bundle is tempting

maybe SCEA finally realizes the importance of advertising and product awareness?

anyway, I’d buy it if you could have two of them on screen at the same time fighting.
and make them look and act more like Gremlins, the wet version thanks. lol

  6. If it was on the PSN store I might buy it but not a disk this year.

    agree @ makai

hopefully this isn’t going to be a 50-60 wallet drop.

Good. I never liked that little monster anyways.

Well I already have the Eye camera and just want the software seperately… So delaying until Spring is not a favourable sign for those of us that have cameras… The delay makes us frustrated and hurts Holiday sales… Since Eye Pet does not require any other controller but your hands…

    @Makai
    agree with you and joinsi…….

Even the devs talk about this game like it’s more of a tech demo and you know this is going to get milked for add-ons like LBP does….so a $50 product would be a complete rip-off. Also after 12 months they’ll release a GotY version with all the content they charged for.

I like supporting developers with my cash, but I don’t like the whore the industry is becoming with dlc.
No I won’t be your John.
